Vizzie Playr hack: Restart video from beginning
I studied Max years ago, but lost practice since then, and I never quite learned the ins and outs of Jitter. So I've turned to Vizzie to create a live video mixing platform for my students, and I'm almost done, but I can't figure out how to restart a video from the beginning on trigger. I was able to modify the vizzie module by sending a "time 0" message to the jit.movie object within the vizzie module, but since there are 3 playrs (and I stupidly saved over the original playr file) the trigger will restart all three playrs despite me routing it to a specific playr through a dropdown menu. Any ideas to get the trigger to only send the "time 0" message to one specific playr at a time?
I've been digging around trying to come up with a solution on my own but seem to be stuck at this juncture. Sorry if this is such a newb question.
Drop a STARTR module into your patch.
Hi Greg - thanks for the reply. A STARTR module appears to restart all videos in the patch since it doesn't take input. Is there a way to use STARTR that I'm not finding to do it to one video at a time?
Thanks
Sending a 0 or 1 (integer) value to the left inlet of a PLAYR module will start/stop the playback, but there's really not a way to start one video at a time. Feature request noted.
Of course, the module is just a Max patch, so you could just crack it open and add a message yourself, in the meantime. :-)
Thanks for the reply - yeah, that's the part I need help with. I'm unfamiliar with how to make different versions of a VIZZIE abstraction so that they operate independently. Any insight?
Hi there - I solved this. In my 5 year lag time between practicing on Max, I had forgotten all about bpatcher. Thanks for your help!
