VST loading problem
This has come up a few times over the years. A vst~ object with the name of a valid vst (or Au) plugin typed into it does not load properly, posting the message "name" - no format VST exists. If I type the name again into the box, it loads OK. If I send it the message [read"name"] it doesn't.
At the moment I'm having this problem with Harpex-X and Harpex-B on max 7.3.4 / OS 10.10.3. Other plug-in's are working.
any ideas or tips welcome!
best, Justin
So, if I understand, at load, some of the time, a VST does not load. When stuff like this happens, I try to slow down the load. Some of the time too much happens at once, and some stuff skips. So, I would make sure the full patch is loaded before I load the VST.
You have to use (plug), (read) is for programs.
thanks musinou,
yes, sorry I meant (plug)! but actually it won't load even if I wait, or if I create a patch with only
the vst~. I think it's a compatibility issue. Another problem is if you create an empty vst~ object it only has 2 inputs, whereas I need 4...
Partially solved: Thanks Musino, I managed to get one of my plug-ins to load after a 1 sec delay, also I discovered (took me 20 years to learn to read the help files) that vst~ takes arguments for inputs and outputs. But still the newer Harpex plugs do not work, which suggests a compatibility issue. best, Justin
Your vst obj has to be initialized as vst~ 4 2.
thanks! one of the problems was that max was sometimes booting in 32 bit mode, so the new versions of the plugins were rejected. It works now.

Hi JB, can you report the same issue I have? Regarding closing the app (or maxpath) with the gui of the vst open... if so, I get a app crash. No crashes if I close the gui before quitting... closebang doesn't help.
