Wireless camera capture on Max
Hello everyone!
I've built many music patches using max but I'm now working on a project that deals with video. (Little experience with video).
The issue is that I need capture video wirelessly with max to play it back in different ways live.
I have some budget to get a camera and a video capture device if needed.
I would like to know what options do I have to set this rig. I read somewhere on this forums that GoPros had some issues streaming to max. I'd like to know what people are using for this task.
What cameras, setup, would you experts suggest??
Big thanks!!
i have 0 experience with wireless cameras, but if you don't get much of a response here, i would try asking on the Jitter facebook group:

Hello Guezz,
I can answer some of your questions..
The main question is how worried are you about latency / lip sync? That is, the time it takes from your camera input to projector.
If you're looking for the least amount of latency as possible and still keeping things wireless, here are 2 links for transmitters/receivers.
Both of these work very well in live arena situations, although the 2nd link wins hands down but at a significant cost.
Bith of these send uncompressed video which is why the latency is about 1ms. Anything out there that encodes (h264) before transmission will increase the frame delay. The Gopro's are unusable when it comes to live lip sync / latency issues, obviously great for recording etc..
As far as cameras are concerned you can use most consumer grade Sony or other brand cams, as long as they have a "clean" HDMI output, no overlays, menus etc.
You'll need a clean uncompressed output to attach to the transmitter and connect the receiver to a Blackmagic Ultra recorder -
I hope this helps..

Thanks Bill, that's really helpful.
I'm not too concerned about the sync from the live feed to the projector, the main task is to record wirelessly. When I do the playback to the projector I do so from the recorded material and I guess any sync issues at that point are related to the max patch and computer.
I was looking into the Blackmagic hardware and I would prefer a single unit to manage both incoming and outgoing video to the thunderbolt on my Mac.
I see couple of models, Intensity:

UltraStudio Express:

Would you recommend any over the other?
Thanks!!
