Sorry for posting about a side topic regarding this forum, but I have looked a bit everywhere on the internet and since Soundflower was initially developped by Cycling74, I thought that might not be totally out of place.

Also, Soundflower is a very useful audio application...

It seems impossible to install soundflower on recent Macs.

I used all the procedures recommended on the web and keep failing 

Is there an alternative to Sound Flower? It is very convenient yet.

I would like to share a project I am trying to bring to life which might be of interest for some of you. 

It’s a plug-and-play sensing platform for creative and audiovisual applications, with MIDI, OSC, wireless capabilities and a convenient web interface. 

So it should be a good fit with max ! You can turn movement, touch, distance, buttons or other sensors into wireless controllers quickly and reliably. 

After using arduino for years to tinker around with sensors, but encountering so many limitations and struggles, I decided to develop and share a much easier, convenient and robust solution for all.

since a month I work on a MacBook Pro 16" M1 Max, which worked flawlessly up until a few days ago, when working with Max got increasingly slow.

The fps in resource hungry jitter patches are still fine, but when creating objects, typing in numbers and all that stuff there seems to be a serious "display lag". I.e. when drawing a slider or turning a dial by mouse, the function itself remains prompt and fine, but sometimes it takes seconds for the slider to visually follow my mouse-movement.

Also opening Max takes a lot longer than it used to, very often when opening the reference sidebar I get the "spinning rainbow wheel" for at least a second etc.

Everything else apart of Max, editing software, photoshop etc works fine, so I wonder where this behavior comes from. I didn't change anything about the MacBook apart of a minor Update in Monterey (now 12.2.1), but these problems already startet before that.

Did anyone have the same problem or know anything about it?

These are patches (usually copy compressed). Copy that , open Max and choose from the file menu "new from clipboard"

This is the problem.  When I use the "new from clipboard" command, a dark window opens; it contains the code. Do you need to have purchased the full version of Max?



I have attached to the code the beginning of the code and the end of the code.
If I select the File menu option, "New from clipboard", a dark window appears. We read the code there. On the other hand, I don't know how to find a MAX code from a text.If a moderator comes across my message, please tell me how to do it.

Hello, I know this is not a mac or motu specific forum... but I know you are all very experienced with gear too...

I have some issues for setting up my AVB + M1 Max.

Actually, it works fine "as it is" which means with the basic preset 1. Actually, that's pretty solide, VERY LOW latency etc.

But I can't setting it up through their weird http embed server: MOTU Discovery doesn't discover anything.

yeah. I remember this being a PITA requiring close following of their instructions (and the same for updating). Completely off the top of my head (I don't have the AVB to hand) I think you might have to connect via USB AND ethernet to do the setting up.

I'll try like this, and it will busy one connection for that only.
I'll give a try to AVB from my mac to as the same time, just for checking...

From the Ultrlite AVB (the one I have) manual...
3 Connect the interface to your computer with a USB cable (included). If you have a Thunderbolt- equipped Mac running OS X Yosemite (10.10) or later, you can alternately connect the UltraLite to the Mac’s Ethernet port with a standard CAT-5e or CAT-6 Ethernet cable (sold separately).

Try connecting via Ethernet first. If that doesn't work, maybe have both ethernet and USB connected at the same time. 

I'm not too sure about all this (I just remember first use being a fiddle faddle), but here's the relevant bit from the Updating page in the manual...

Firmware updating requires a network cable connection, so before you begin, connect a standard CAT-5 or CAT-6 network cable from the network port on the UltraLite AVB to one of the following:

■ Your computer’s network port (or a Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter)

■ Your home, studio, or office network (with internet access)

■ AnAVBportonaMOTUAVBswitch (connected to your office network through the Ethernet port)

1 LaunchtheMOTUAVBControlwebappon your computer, iPad, or iPhone, as usual.

(Figure D-1), click More Info.
4 After reviewing the list of enhancements, click

No, I just included that so that you could see their connection instructions. Mind you, it might be an idea to run the update anyway, though you won't be able to do that until MoTu Control can see the device.

I had already did it, btw.
And yes ok I understand.
I'll go that way. This is just for programming a couple of presets. After that, afaik, I can recall them through the interface's ui itself.
