If you name a parameter, it will be used as the title of the info window when hovering with the mouse. 

But if this parameter is contained in a bpatcher, there is a [...] added after its name. Is there a way to have more control on this name ? 

For instance, have "smooth 1", "smooth 2", etc... instead of "smooth", "smooth[1], etc ? 

I tried stuff like "smooth#1" but arguments don't seem to be useable to set up the short name.

First off—huge thanks to Elphnt for the amazing Max for Live wrapper tutorial! It’s been incredibly helpful as I’ve been building custom wrappers for my VST3 plugins.

That said, I’ve hit a snag when trying to make these wrappers portable between my 

 machines. Specifically, I’m loading a plugin using [plug_vst3 <plugin-name>], and everything works perfectly on the system where I created the patch. But when I open the same Max for Live device on the other platform, the plugin doesn’t load.

I tried debugging by comparing my wrapper to Elphnt’s 

, which interestingly works cross-platform without any issues. I copied the initialization setup from that wrapper but it didn’t solve the problem in my case.

To further rule out plugin-specific issues, I tested with the 

(thats the same one he made the tutorial with), installed to standard paths on both Mac and Windows—and I still see the same issue.

It seems like the plugin reference or path embedded in [plug_vst3] doesn’t remain valid when switching operating systems, unless re-initialized manually by clicking on the object. I’m guessing the issue may be related to platform-specific file paths or internal plugin IDs that don’t map properly between systems.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Is there a best practice for making sure VST3 plug-ins inside Max wrappers remain valid and loadable across platforms?

Is it possible with Max or Max JS, to read the "Midi To" (port name) and the channel property of the External Instrument device?

If not, would it be possible to do this with a custom python Midi Remote Script? 

ClyphX Pro has some example Max devices that use JS objects that interact with a remote script (script being ClyphX Pro ) .

I've noticed a weird behaviour while trying to retrieve time in ms from a Live Session.

Whenever there are tempo automations/changes, the values coming out from live.object through the "

function differ from the right values in the info from Live.

but whenever I start the metro, notes are blocked. Maybe because of the "per channel" nature of Live's tracks ? i guess that MIDI clock doesn't have a channel...

[rtin] is not working in a M4L context so I assume that clock messages are blocked too.
It's really  a pity that the tempo information from Live to MIDIout doesn't pass through the tracks.
You cannot (in my opinion) catch/send them.

The CLock device  uses Imp.midi and is just working for external synths.

I've gotten into the habit of saving my max projects in my Ableton>User Library>Presets folder, which is where Ableton sends me every time I go to save a new Max instrument or effect, but it feels like a kind of kludgy way to do it.

Like if I just move those folders to my Max Projects folder, in Documents, and have the projects folder in the search path, will Ableton be able to find my max devices?

I'm also wondering if there's a way to change this User Library>Presets folder as the default folder for saving a new M4L device from within Ableton.
