I'm trying to get raw UDP data from a tiny chip/camera (Xiao Seeed Studio ESP32 S3), and parse it in max as a single grayscale snapshot. I have the data coming into Max through sadam.udpReceiver, but I'm not sure how to put it into a jit.matrix and then to a pwindow.   

Context: The chip camera is doing motion tracking of a dancer, and I have most of that coded through the Arduino IDE and sending parsed data to max. However, I also need to take a snapshot of what the camera is seeing, so it's positioned correctly. As it works now, Max sends the message "snap", and I get a bunch of (theoretically) grayscale numbers back into Max. That's working fine : well, at the very least I get numbers.

More context: I've tried workarounds, like setting up a web server on the ESP32 chip, but it doesn't like to multitask or doesn't like moving between grayscale and JPEG. It gets laggy, too.  

 I've attached a screenshot of the max patch after one "snap", as well as the Arduino sketch. Thanks to this great forum!

I'm designing a sequencer for a hardware MIDI device, and I'm looking for a way to set the MIDI CC 16 Automation line to a selected value in the range of a selected note. Is it possible to write Automation values from M4L, either as a MIDI Effect or MIDI Tool, without having to record Automation output in real time?

is there a way of using patcherargs in conjunction with o.expr.codebox (or setting the text programmatically)? Sometimes there might be some odot code doing parsing or conditioning of sensor data and I would like to build an abstraction and set the osc-address as arg. Otherwise, I would think of using js / patcher scripting in order to script a o.expr.codebox object with text inside - haven't tried though and not sure if it is possible?

I recently (as of the day of posting this) am getting an error that has seemingly rendered the gen codebox basically useless.  It seems gen can no longer run a codebox's code if I at all use any explicit reference to inputs (in, in1, in2, etc...), which basically means I can no longer use codeboxes at all that deal with any signal inputs . I should also note that I obtain this error both in the gen.codebox~ object outside of the gen environment, as well as with codeboxes within a dedicated gen~ subpatch. There's more to this error that I will get into, but first here's some simple example code I've written:

out2 = some_function(x); // also gives error when using a transitive variable as the input

So the above code would have in all of my previous work in gen, and to my current understanding, be syntactically correct and compilable. In fact, when I write this code, and allow it to compile in real-time it appears that there is no error initially. It is only when I connect actual signal sources to the input(s) of the gen codebox (if this is a gen.codebox~ object in the top-level max/msp environment) or to a gen~ object containing this codebox that produces this following error in the max console:

Which I'm very perplexed by considering "in", "in1", etc... have always referred to a codebox's inputs. As you can imagine, this is quite frustrating considering the majority of my work in gen involves the use of the codebox, and this has rendered basically all of my max patches and max4live objects that use gen codeboxes to be unusable,  so any insight into this issue would be greatly appreciated!

I finally managed to implement Live.Clip.Clip.create_automation_envelope(), Live.Clip.AutomationEnvelope.insert_step() and Live.Clip.AutomationEnvelope.value_at_time() by editing LomTypes.pyc and MxDCore.pyc. 😬

I know it's a gray area and i will not publish this hack. But it's not that hard to make this possible. So i ask myself (and you) if it's possible to make an official release for that feature to make it available for everyone? I'm looking forward to see this in an official update in near future.
