I am having an issue with the audio coming out of the speakers of my laptop. I already checked that the volume is on and the settings in the audio status of Max are correct. I also check the sound settings of my laptop and I believe everything is in order: max app have selected as output the speakers of the laptop, sound drivers are updated, format of output is the same as the audio status in Max (16 bit, 48000 Hz). I reset Max and my laptop several times and it doesn´t work. The objects like makenote actually make sounds I can hear in the speakers, but when is cycle~ I can´t hear anything, even when I see the sound is happening. I read the turorials in cycling website and can´t find anything I haven´t done there. What am I missing? I am using a surface laptop with Windows 11.

I am very new to Max, so please forgive me...

I looked under the hood of the new Ableton Live SQ sequencer because I wasn't able to MIDI map the step toggles.

Well, after diving in, I have successfully mapped the step toggles. Problem is, when I switch them on and off using my MIDI controller, none of the steps of the SQ sequencer are altered. I'd like to see the pitch, octave, velo and length lanes all go dim for each step I turn off, but nothing happens.

After another look under the hood of the Max patch, I noticed that there is another solitary live.toggle object, which doesn't appear in the presentation view of the SQ sequencer, that seems to be doing all of the heavy lifting.

When I am in the patcher that contains the live.toggle objects for each step, plus the mystery toggle... nothing happens when I click the step-specific toggles unless I am in presentation mode. If I click that mystery toggle it alters the state of all of the per-step parameters for the step that matches the number on the live.numbox object it is patched to.

My question is: how to I make the per-step toggles send a message to the mystery toggle when I change their state with a MIDI controller? I assume that mapping the mystery toggle to a MIDI controller won't do anything since it is receiving some message from the per-step toggles. The only parameter that makes sense to alter on the per-step toggles is "Output Mode" but the only options are MouseDown and MouseUp. 

I'm lost and in so so far over my head. I have explored this same endeavor with other Max4Live sequencers and this always seems to be the issue. This extra little toggle that I can't map. Or some object in the way that I can't tell to do what I want it to do.

I only see the ability to specify notes with a velocity expression.  All notes live within a "notes" array and it seems to me there's gotta be a separate "cc" array to express such things as pitch bend, slide, etc.   I can't find reference docs for the contents of the dict passed in and out of live.miditool.[in/out].

Hey all, looking for help on the question of producing MPE from my M4L device for consumption by Ableton 12's purportedly MPE-supporting instrument, 

Trivial setup:  create a new M4L MIDI device,  copy the example network from mpeformat object's help. into a blank device.  Now add the device into an Ableton MIDI track:  mydevice -> MIDI Monitor -> Sampler (any preset).  

example buttons produces two notes with independent control over volume and aftertouch. Examination of the Midi Monitor in Flow mode shows that the CC data is "normalized" to use the global MIDI channel.  IE: it preserves the channel for note on/off but resets the channel on the volume and aftertouch CCs.   I spent time with ChatGPT and Gemini and this problem/feature of 

 appears to be well known?  It appears that there exist longstanding inference rules in Ableton to discriminate legit MPE sources from bogus ones.  One might imagine that 

would embody the secret sauce, but unless I'm missing something it does not.

With Ableton 12's built-in MPE instruments the priority of this issue increases, I think.

Anyone have pointers or suggestions?   Thanks!

I am using Max to open Live Sets using the message "; max launchbrowser".

It works fine on my computer but on someone else's the following error is displayed on the console (of course he uses a different path than mine, a path that is directly imported from his computer using dropfile) :

I can recreate this error by inserting a wrong path after launchbrowser on my computer. So it appears to be a wrong path issue.

Does anyone have more information on this err = -43 or on the subject ?

Hello! Lately I used a stacking looper patch (from Andrew Robinson's video) to add an extension to it. Techically I want the loop's buffer size to be calculated via note values and tempo and I've pretty much created an algorithm that works pretty well. The only problem remaining is that the buffer size will reset every time the counter sends an output, therefore the recording that follows after the latest output will be the only thing saved as the buffer's  content. Is there a way to send the counter's final message result after the recording? Or should I use a different object than counter? My thoughts so far would be that I need to stop the counter from sending a message while the recording is on, and then when the recording goes off then the counter's final message will then be sent and calculated for the final buffer size. It'd be very helpful to open the patch since everything is pretty complicated! Thank you!

Hi. I've been using wireless MIDI BLE sensors (Adafruit Feather Sense) since 2022 with no connectivity problems until about three weeks ago.

However now Max/MSP cannot grab the sensor data, and I can't figure out what the problem is.

I'm running Max 9 on a Macintosh (powerbook circa 2020, Intel core, OS 15.3.1).

My Macintosh can see the bluetooth device and connect. The device shows up in my Audio-MIDI app on the Mac as connected. Max/MSP sees it as a MIDI device when I double-click on a ctlin object. But no data from the device gets into the Max MIDI objects (via ctlin objects). Sometimes Max will register a flicer of data when connection is first made, but then nothing after that. But usually no data whatsoever gets into Max.

I've reset the BLE devices, reloaded their code, removed and re-added them to the Macintosh list of bluetooth devices and the MIDI-Audio app's list of devices. None of these actions make a difference. Any advice?? Thanks!

This doesn't happen with Max 8. Even when I have DSP set to Off and the Audio Device set to None in Audio Settings my audio "skips". Youtube video + backround foobar2000 music drops out. Lasts less than a second... The youtube video freezes for as long as there is no audio. Happens every 10 seconds or so. Skipping stops when I exit Max 9.

Edit: Seems like maybe the skipping starts when I play videos in Firefox. Hardware acceleration is enabled in Firefox.
