I'm working with a small team that is building an immersive installation for educating children in Puerto Rico about storm and hurricane preparedness and resiliency.

The installation in question is a 7ft diameter dome that has 12,000 RGB LEDs in wrapped concentric circles inside it. There is also a nice sound system inside the dome and once the visitors go inside, they will experience a piece of music/spoken word about the before, during and after a hurricane. The music is created by an emmy award-winning composer and I think it's a really cool project for a good cause.

The dome lights are driven by a video, and I'm looking for some help to create some compelling content to be shown inside the dome. It's a long piece (8 min), so we have found moving through some visuals lasting no longer than 4-5s each keep the kids' interest going.

I have some visuals already and plan on making more, but I'm looking for an experienced person who perhaps has a large audio visualization library that could run the piece through each visualizer so I can take the snippets that look good and edit them into our video. I don't have a huge budget, but if you reach out we can hopefully reach a price that makes it worth your time.

Also, if someone has some recommendations for some good visualizer libraries (paid or free is fine) where I could sync it to the audio, I would very much appreciate it.

The GroupFlow Project, uses advanced sensors to measure what's happening in the breath and heart, then turns that data into light, sound and music acting as a form of collective self awareness. The group can merge into synchronized breathing, hear each other's heartbeat's, explore new tech augmented approaches to meditation and much more.

The Max/MSP system can accommodate up to 24 participants, requiring 27 independent channels of audio, 24 channels of sensor data, 24 LED channels, in addition to the over 500 LEDs in the physical space. This system is optimized for very low latency and is capable of providing real-time light and sound feedback.

Recently a private funder has supported a research collaboration with UC Santa Barbara which will require the development of new functionality as well as the operating of the system for experiments and events. 

This position would require taking over a large and advanced code base developed over years by multiple developers. The work would be in three parts:

This is not a simple or lightweight project. It would take significant energy to get up to speed and will require fluency not only in Max/MSP but deep understanding of audio signal processing and general good coding practices for large software systems efficiently handling numerous real-time data streams. 

We are looking for a part-time developer with a flexible schedule and the ability to occasionally travel. Candidate should be based in Southern California and able to regularly participate in events in Ojai, CA. The current funding has a fixed budget, but this project is expected to continue and grow. The ideal candidate is available with flexible hours and open to growing into a more regular work cadence as funding and project grow.

Hello all, im looking for a max msp advanced user to compose a patch for my project.

essentially im using an RGB sensor via my arduino that "reads" a spinning wood log very much like a turntable. i want to use the data from the sensor to generate a parametric sound system.

I'm working on a live show where I'm playing the score for film live, building it in loops & layers and also semi live-editing the accompanying video. 

One thing I've needed to do is to be able to hit a different midi pads throughout my setup that each can send a trigger to Resolume (VJ software) to play the next column of visuals on the next beat #1. Resolume has a device called Parameter Forwarder that sends a signal from Ableton to Resolume, so I've just created a very simple patch that can send the Parameter Forwarder a bang immediately when I hit a midi pad, or have the bang wait until the next beat #1. 

I am a total Max noob, but I figured it out enough to create a very basic patch and get it working most of the time, but there are still a few gremlins in the patch that are coming back to haunt me now that I'm starting to play the show for people live. Here are the issues: 

I've asked ChatGPT which had some thoughts but honestly I don't understand Max well enough to be able to implement the ideas. I would love to learn Max fully someday but I'm really daunted by the thought of it currently. I'd be super grateful for any insight you have. This patch is really important to this show that I'm making and I'd be happy to pay someone for their time helping me to make it more robust. I'd also be happy to do some kind of skill swap, I've learned a ton about Ableton and Resolume for this show and have been a filmmaker & video editor for 15 years in case any of that is helpful to you! 

Here is the patch that I created. I've also attached a photo showing how it's setup in Ableton. (First row are midi mappable buttons that send a next column signal to Resolume, second row of big circles send a next columnn signal to Resolume on the next beat #1)
