I am building a very traditional step sequencer using a phasor as a clock and finally converting (edge~) to MIDI event (midiformat) to send to a synth (Serum) loaded in vst~.

I am after some high-frequency triggering (around from 10hz-20hz aprox, so 50ms the fastest).

As far as I could check, the MIDI event messages hold very well this frequency, but the vst~ seems somehow unstable (missing beats, or sounding like groups of triplets). 

If I send through a MIDI virtual cable to Live, there are no problems.

Did someone have a similar or different experience trying this? Any recommendations?

I have group of data representing 3 values: a time measure number, a note and time in ms (its value is (* 0.001)).

The active value is listed as “time measure, the note and time in ms”,

The operation needed is to eliminate one of the 2 consecutive equal notes. These repeated values are caused by Max software due to false or law alert of loudness issue (markers or partials).

The result should be to create an alert blink on one button note that have same value. This alert button will enable the user to manually decide to delete the repeated note.

The system should consider also to add new set of data (time-measure, note and time in ms) in case it was ignored by the system due to law value in loudness.

After the process of adding or deleting issue, the system should collect the 3 values in the order list: time-measure, note and time in ms. And finally, this group should be collected into the “coll” object.

I am very new to Max, so please forgive me...

I looked under the hood of the new Ableton Live SQ sequencer because I wasn't able to MIDI map the step toggles.

Well, after diving in, I have successfully mapped the step toggles. Problem is, when I switch them on and off using my MIDI controller, none of the steps of the SQ sequencer are altered. I'd like to see the pitch, octave, velo and length lanes all go dim for each step I turn off, but nothing happens.

After another look under the hood of the Max patch, I noticed that there is another solitary live.toggle object, which doesn't appear in the presentation view of the SQ sequencer, that seems to be doing all of the heavy lifting.

When I am in the patcher that contains the live.toggle objects for each step, plus the mystery toggle... nothing happens when I click the step-specific toggles unless I am in presentation mode. If I click that mystery toggle it alters the state of all of the per-step parameters for the step that matches the number on the live.numbox object it is patched to.

My question is: how to I make the per-step toggles send a message to the mystery toggle when I change their state with a MIDI controller? I assume that mapping the mystery toggle to a MIDI controller won't do anything since it is receiving some message from the per-step toggles. The only parameter that makes sense to alter on the per-step toggles is "Output Mode" but the only options are MouseDown and MouseUp. 

I'm lost and in so so far over my head. I have explored this same endeavor with other Max4Live sequencers and this always seems to be the issue. This extra little toggle that I can't map. Or some object in the way that I can't tell to do what I want it to do.

Is there a way to dynamically script add UI objects to a patch, such that their visual parameters are already set?  Like if I wanted to add a number box, but have the arrow not showing, the background a certain color, size a specific size, etc..?  

Or do I have to create a "default" one first, and then script modify it after it's created?

I know that Volker Böhm had taken a crack at it, but the help files are missing, so I am a little bit at a loss.  Has anyone been able to update these?  Please let me know.  Volker provided a download for what he did in 2021, but, as I said, without help files.  I suppose it wouldn't be too crazy for me to go back to one of my old laptops that may have the old versions installed.  I haven't tried downloading the old version that last worked on Max 6 to see if I could transfer the help files.  I haven't been using Max/MSP for quite awhile, but that might also be a way to go.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.  Best, John

I’m running into a Max/MSP question I haven’t been able to find a clear answer to. I’ve been looking into the difference between snippets and modules. From what I understand, snippets are more like copy-paste—if you change the original, it doesn’t update the others. But modules do update across patches, which is exactly what I’m looking for. The part I’m stuck on: how do you create your own folder structure for modules, and how can you make them show up in the Max sidebar? Would really appreciate any help or tips!

Hi. I've been using wireless MIDI BLE sensors (Adafruit Feather Sense) since 2022 with no connectivity problems until about three weeks ago.

However now Max/MSP cannot grab the sensor data, and I can't figure out what the problem is.

I'm running Max 9 on a Macintosh (powerbook circa 2020, Intel core, OS 15.3.1).

My Macintosh can see the bluetooth device and connect. The device shows up in my Audio-MIDI app on the Mac as connected. Max/MSP sees it as a MIDI device when I double-click on a ctlin object. But no data from the device gets into the Max MIDI objects (via ctlin objects). Sometimes Max will register a flicer of data when connection is first made, but then nothing after that. But usually no data whatsoever gets into Max.

I've reset the BLE devices, reloaded their code, removed and re-added them to the Macintosh list of bluetooth devices and the MIDI-Audio app's list of devices. None of these actions make a difference. Any advice?? Thanks!
