I'm working on a device that midimaps a surface control to some parameters, with a fancy fullscreen UI with big sliders and knobs... I named it OSC

I have a big live set with multiple track groups, each track group is one song with its own plugin... and each track group has its own OSC device.

The device is currently in use and working almost fine. Each one has its own setting thanks to the dictionary paramater_enable attribute.

BUT each time i open in Max the "original" OSC device, and save some modifications, its dictionary spreads to all the other running OSC devices and I have to set them again individually, which is a pain.

For each device to have an independant dictionary, I preceded the dict name with the magical "---".

I played a bit to try to understand, I noticed that the "---" is replaced by a 3 digit number which is not the device Id. Those 3 digits change in every single running device every time I save the original device, and subsequently the name of the dictionary changes, and lose all its data...

Is there a way to force each instance of the device to name its dictionary with a unique name it could then remember ? I dont want them to be saved into a file and recalled every time, I'm sure there's a straightforward and simple way to do this.

Long story short, I want to be able to modify the "original" OSC device without modifying the dictionary of other running OSC devices...

Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to have a Max midi audio device that also can receive audio from an audio track in Ableton. So basically I can access both the midi data received on the midi track where the Max device is and the audio data coming from the other audio track. I am not interested in outputing anything from this device, no midi and no audio should come out from this device. I just need the midi and audio signals to control some Jitter visualizations.

My goal is to create a flexible M4L device that allows for dynamic swapping of effect chains within a structured signal routing setup (handled by Max). The audio signal enters the device from 

 and is split into two paths. One path remains unprocessed, while the other is routed through an effect chain. The specific signal routing beyond that becomes nontrivial and hacky in Live (but is simple in Max), which is why I want to implement it in Max rather than in a Live effect rack.

Ideally, I would like to structure the device such that I can load Live's native effects and third-party plugins to create arbitrarily customizable effect chains, much like a Live-native effect rack. I am considering options such as using 

 for loading effect chains dynamically or employing 

 for user selection. Still, I'm curious if some other approaches or objects might be better suited for this task.

Has anyone here worked on something similar or have any recommendations on how to implement this kind of dynamic effect chain swapping efficiently in Max for Live? Any tips on maintaining performance and usability would also be greatly appreciated!

Hi guys. I'm interested in getting M4L but I was wondering if it would be possible to do the following first. I'd like to edit the LFO device in Live's library to add an on off switch for each of the 8 modulation targets in the LCD looking black window (with all the map buttons). Such that when it's off the corresponding target ceases being modulated. But I would need it to me an on-off switch that I can map to a midi controller or to a macro control inside a Live rack. I tried digging into it a bit using M4L in the Live Suite trial but can't for the life of me figure out how to open the Abl.MultiMap object to see what's inside it. Is this easily doable?

I have reached stalemate in the project I am currently working on. The idea is to use a XBOX controller that will trigger notes. For that, I want to create a sort of instrument fingering (like a flute or oboe woud have to seal the holes) with the buttons on the right of the controller. This idea would correspond to use a kind of a """standard""" fingering for a digital instrument.

I figured that maybe it would be playable to set C on the A button, E on the X, G on the Y and B on the B (to make an arpeggio). To make the middle notes (D, F and A) I was wondering if it could be possible to assign them with multiple button pressed. To do so, A and X would trigger D, X and Y would trigger F & Y and B would trigger A.

I tried multiple stuff to achieve this idea, and the most convicing one was to use the [if] object. You can check the patch atached to this post to look at what I tried. 

1) why does the [sel 0 1] object coming from the X buttons bang the two outlet at the same time everytime I try to do a D ?

2) did I missed an object that would simplify what I'm trying to do ?

3) I have the strange feeling that everytime I am close to the answer, I missed something and everything seems to be nonsens afterall. Like I can finally press A and X to trigger D BUT the A triggers the C at the same time which leads to hear two notes at the same time... 

If someone has a clue that might help me solving this problem I'd be thankfull !! (please excuse my english, I'm a foreigner)

I'm trying to figure out how to loop a sequence of samples (Round Robin) playing a single MIDI drum pad repeatedly.

I also need to be able to reset the sequence via another Drum Pad (MIDI mapped) so next time I hit the other pad the sequence starts on the first sample again.

So far, I found 3 different methods of achieving that effect (almost) in Ableton:

Problem: none of these methods allow to reset the sequence via MIDI mapping.

Unfortunately I don't know Max4Live, to fix this myself.

Maybe  someone here  can help me achieve the desired effect :)

I'm looking for a device in Max for Live that can duplicate the length of a currently selected MIDI clip. Let's say you've recorded a 1-bar bassline but want to extend it to 2 bars to add some automation over the last few beats. Ableton Live has a button for this, but I need a simple device for my live performances.

I'm a beginner with Max for Live, but I'm willing to give it a shot if nobody has created this device yet. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I'm new to M4L and doing a computer science project for school. I will need audio clips of each preset (.adg) for Analog. Basically, this is for ML purposes so I need some good training data.

Load Presets: Automatically load each preset into the Analog synth. 

Listen to a loop: Set a loop within Live with MIDI clip inside of it. For now, I'll just play a single C note but would also like to record a progression later on.

Record the Output: Start and stop recording to capture the audio from the synth. 

Save and Label the Recording: Each recording is saved with an appropriate label that matches the preset for easy identification.

So far I haven't had any luck with anything. I can't seem to even access the device using live.path and live.object.

Just wondering about the complexity of this task.  I've watched the tutorials and played around with it but any of the things I've listed above I can't figure out. I'm also not sure how I would iterate through each preset? What do you guys think?

I really like the random steps implementation for the live.grid but I would like to add functionality to set some steps to be fixed while the rest are randomised.
