Soundstrokes is here and @themelodycrafters couldn't be more proud of how it has turned out. We are currently in the process of speaking to art, music therapy and educational organisations about use of this software across sectors. Soundstrokes offers users the ability to use sound as paint, and themselves as the brush and is truly captivating to use (it feels like magic).

Instead of normal waveshaping process in time domain(mapping volume from input range to output range), this plugin shapes the amplitude information for each spectral bin. "waveshaping" each bin's amplitude individually. (kinda like spectral filter)

I'd love to insert this plugin into a pad track to help me shape its tone, change original pad to another timbre.

Celestine is best described as a realtime granular processor, or, perhaps, a granular delay device.  It hosts a rolling buffer that is constantly listening to what you play, replenishing itself, and then spitting out grains and glitches based on what you feed it, making the device equally useful for live use, studio sound design, and even just finding happy accidents while you twist knobs.  It doesn't store audio for later.  It's all about the fleeting moments - the moment happening right now.  The present.

The device was inspired by boutique guitar pedals - the immediacy of instant sonic gratification.  While many granular devices rely on dropping a sample into a buffer, I wanted something that would feel more organic, more live.  Celestine is always listening, Celestine is hungry for audio. As I built this device, I was trying to imagine, "What would Chase Bliss do?".  I'm a big fan of their devices and they're a huge inspiration to me.

Celestine actually has two separate engines.  One, we'll call the grain engine, and the second we'll call the glitch engine.  The grain engine is what you might expect - a granular processor that turns the sounds fed into the device into tiny, micro grains, tiny shards of audio, then spits them out in clouds.  While granular processing is all about micro chunks of audio, you can think of the glitch engine as macro chunks.  It's also always listening, but spits out larger chunks of audio, which can then be processed by one of three algorithms (macro, up and down).

Rounding out the device, Celestine offers a hearty FX section featuring wave-folding distortion for rich harmonics, a bitcrusher that can go from subtle to digital decimation, a dreamy reverb complete with a freeze function, and the Magic effects panel seen in some of my other devices - a one stop shop to quickly alter the tone and timbre of a sound with one of seven artisanal multi-FX algorithms.

The device lends itself to melodics - vocals, keys, guitars and the like - but I've also had some nice results with percussive material.  It can be used both as an insert effect on a track, setting a nice balance between dry and wet, or as a send with the device set to fully wet, sending bits and pieces of various tracks to it.

I've put a lot of time into this one.  The development process took me about four months.  I'm asking $15 for it - I feel I could possibly ask for more, but I'm trying to be reasonable and treat this lovely community of musicians with respect - I know your money is hard-earned and I know that everyone is struggling in some way.  Your support will not only go towards the continued development of this, past devices and new ones, but also, more importantly, it'll go towards my family - putting food on the table for myself, my wife and our delightful obsessed-with-tractors toddler.  I feel very lucky to be here in this position, working from home, creating things to spark joy and inspiration for musicians.  It feels like my true calling.

Meridian is a MIDI sequencer that integrates Euclidean sequencing with generative controls, enabling the creation of new patterns on the fly and the continuous evolution of existing ones in novel and musical ways.

Set the frequency at which randomizations will occur, specify low and high note limits, and let the process unfold. A velocity randomizer adds a human touch to the outputted notes' velocities.

While there are numerous Euclidean sequencers available, Meridian distinguishes itself not only through its optional generative controls for real-time sequence generation but also by its ability to generate authentic polyrhythms, unlike the Euclidean MIDI device integrated into Live 12's MIDI tools.

With the stock Live 12 Euclidean device, a 5-step pattern will repeat indefinitely until the clip is full, at which point it will resume from the beginning. In contrast, Meridian's four tracks each have their own clock, ensuring that a 5-step sequence will loop as soon as its five steps have finished triggering. Adding a 16-step pattern on another track will allow the polyrhythms to make themselves heard, as the 5-step pattern accents different beats of the 16-step pattern each time it plays. The two patterns will not synchronize again until 80 steps have passed (5 steps x 16 steps).

Also, you can store your favourite patterns within the preset matrix or even store an entire set's worth of patterns and switch between them with ease.

I believe this device inspires both creative studio work and live performances. Furthermore, it features nine banks of mappings for the Push, enabling users to operate the device without ever needing to turn to their laptop.

Introduced a companion device, Meridian Receiver, allowing to send MIDI data from Meridian to any other track(s) in a project.

Overhauled the user interface, making things more ergonomic.

Fixed an issue with randomize all buttons when using more than one instance of Meridian in a project.

Added the ability adjust the note lengths individually for each of the four tracks.

Added a global transpose function to shift the entire sequence up or down by up to 24 semitones.

Added basic Push 3 Standalone support. I've not yet been able to bring the graphical sequencer visualizer over to the Push, but all of the functions and controls of Meridian are now functioning both on Push 2/3 as well as the Push 3 Standalone with nine banks of controls: two banks per track, and an additional bank to handle global parameters.

The Dataset Generator for Musical Devices (DGMD) is a collection of MAX patches and JavaScript files for the automatic generation of datasets from hardware and software musical devices. The musical device could be a device that generates sound, such as a sound synthesizer, or it could be a device that processes sound, like an audio effect. This tool was developed primarily to generate datasets for modeling musical devices utilizing data-driven black box techniques such as deep learning, or to utilize machine learning for implementing control abstraction for device’s parameters.

The DGMD supports different type of devices:

The DGMD triggers the device with a stimulus (an audio signal for effects, single notes or chords for synthesizers) while it record its output for different settings of the control parameters. The generated dataset is composed by a CSV file with the parameter values, and a collection of audio files including the recording of the device's output.

To generate the dataset, up to 10 synthesis/effects parameters and 5 note parameters (pitch, velocity, duration, pitch bend, and aftertouch) can be changed according to one of the following modalities:

The DGMD, present a variety of utilities and functionalities to facilitate the dataset generation and the follow up use for modeling purposes, such as detailed timing control of note recording to capture desired portion of the ADSR phases, support for dataset generation using chords, or repeated instances with polyphonic patterns,  or automatic detection and compensation of the device’s latency.
