25+ch files not playing Max (multichannel mc.playlist~)

Hello,

Maybe I am doing something completely wrong, but I can't get latest Max to play any file with more than 16 channels on Windows. At best it plays a couple of seconds before stopping. Sometimes it can't start playback at all.

I tried both:

• mc.sfplay~ 64 161280 (with the biggest buffer I could imagine)

• mc.playlist~ (which I really would like to use)

No matter what output channel settings I use, they both fail the same. I have some of my own files, but for example any 25 or 32 channel demo files from https://mhacoustics.com/demos don't work. Meanwhile the same 32ch demo files work great if I use spat5.sfplay~ . So why not in mc.playlist~ ?

(note there are similar topics on the forum, but no one has an explanation why built-in players fail)
