Ableton 11.06 M4L Plugin Crash

Jono Aerts's icon

Hi Guys,

Wondering if anyone could help. I have recently started using a plugin in Ableton https://maxforlive.com/library/device/7516/gmaudio-ducker

When i have a couple of instances running in the project, Ableton just shuts down without any notice. Would really appreciate any help as i would like to be able to use this plugin.

My System specs:
Processor    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
Installed RAM    16.0 GB
Display Geforce GTX 770

I have tried Deleting the Cycling74 folder as suggested by Ableton and also using the Standalone version of Max with no success. My Ableton install is default and i dont seem to get errors using any other M4L devices.

Here is the crash log:

Gday Jono,

Rob here from GMaudio & Fixation Studios. There has been a couple reports of the same sort of crash. I have recently sent out an update so I suggest trying that, some people have reported that after cleaning up there computer the crashes have stopped but ultimately this an issue with the current versions of Live and Max and the next update should have it sorted. There is a public beta of Max 8.2 that has fixed a few issues with jitter (of which my device and the native LFO uses) so that should remedy the crashes but the next public release of Max & Live should be solid again. Live 11.0.6 is just not very stable at the moment.

Also, any issues, just shoot me an Email by replying to your receipt and I’ll do my best to advise you. This helps me manage issues and make better products so dont be shy 😊

Hey Rob,

Love the GMaudio ducker, I use it all the time! I have ran into an issue with the ducker on 11.3.4 though and was curious if you might be able to provide a solution..

In the project I only have the Ducker on one group - every time I click on that group only - it pulls up the effects lane for a brief moment (everything is unclickable) and then the project crashes.

I am hoping to remove the Ducker from the group and see if that fixes the issues becuase I am going off of an assumption alone here.. Do you know if there is a way to remove a plugin / device from a channel without having that channel selected / highlighted?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide!

Nearly all issues with my devices have been related to Jitter which can be finicky with certain GFX cards and resolutions. If your using an external monitor with a laptop try it with the monitor unplugged, if your on a desktop computer then try changing your operating systems resolution. Updating to the latest Max and making sure all your drivers are up to date are highly recommended.
