About MC in M4L....

Hi everyone !

I've made a big M4L device which use 62 channels with Max 8.0.6... As I use MC objects, I thought it didn't work with an embedded Max version with Live Suite 10.1, but I've just tried this version (which is a 8.0.4 version), I've set "using provided Max" in Live 10.1, and everything works well... But, as I have the "real" max... Maybe it counts !

Doesn't anybody can tell me more about M4L and MC ? for people who don't have Max....

Many thx in advance

Jerome

This may be a question to David Zicarrelli :
When or how the MC architecture could be implemented in Ableton Live/M4L ?
Would mc. buses work ?
+ mc. mixdown return or output track ?
Obviously, this would help many and would be sort of a leap.
Best regards
Roland

@Vichug : ok thanks

According to Roman and Vichug answers it seems that my reply/idea/question was not clear.

Yes of course mc. works in M4L, but not really; because Ableton Live tracks are only stereo, which is really killing.
What about if mc. was really working, meaning all Ableton Live tracks would be multichannel, just like any mc. Max objects ?
You could have it work in stereo if you'd like to, but also multichannel, ambisonics or even Mono, as well as every possible distribution standard or custom format, out of stereo bottleneck. This would apply to input as well as outputs, devices, plugins and effects.

AbletonLive Suite would therefore go far beyond it already does.

Cheers

oh, i just figured that the original post is 3 years old.

well, for that kind of stuff it should be fine to use forward/receive and make the assignment a parameter.

you can implement host programs for AU and VST with a dynamic numbers of channels for the same plug-in, but i dont think anyone ever did it. (or would you only do it for live devices? i think that wouldnt work?)

To be precise, I wanted to talk about mc.plugin~ and mc.plugout~ but the tracks remain stereo so everything is fine in this case, thanks to all

Best,
