ASCII Art is not displaying correctly in the message, comment, and textedit objects

Hello! I'm a beginner to max msp. I'm working on an video art project for a class, and I would like to have ascii art throughout my patch. I'm having trouble displaying the art however, as seemingly the formating seems to not be working. Taking any ascii art from this website, it will format just fine in a notepad, however, when it is pasted into a comment, message, or texedit object, the spacing of the lines of text becomes off. This is very frustrating, as there seems to be no fix to this issue, as it looks like it's an inherent issue with how text is formated in the aforementioned objects. Storing a txt. file with my ascii art, opening it in a text object in max, and then double clicking that object to view the contents, the ascii art will display just fine. I've attached 2 screenshots of how the ascii art looks in a notepad, and how it looks in a textedit object in max. Any help would be appreciated!

formating is completely off; Same text pasted into textedit object. Same thing happens for message object too.

Formating is completely fine.

this is not true, paste into comment, and it will look as original.

A fundamental assumption in ASCII art is that the font being used is monospaced.
In Max, if you change the font in the object's inspector to a a monospaced font (like Courier or Courier New), it will work.
