Blacklisted VST3 Plugins
Hi all, got a new M1 Pro Computer, and pretty much all of my VST3 plugins are blacklisted. Any idea how to get around it? Also, loading them as AU takes a long time, with the beach ball spinning for several seconds.
Thanks, Hans
You probably got bit by running Max in native mode whereas the VST 3 plugins are still Intel and so can’t be used.
AU plugins work because Apple (rather sleazily) arranged for Intel AU plugins to be automatically loaded by Rosetta, presumably so that they can be used by Logic, etc. They didn’t bother to do this for VSTs.
We wrote a blog article about this some time ago, it impacts any non-Apple plugin host running in native mode until plugin developers make Apple native versions of their plugins.

Oh cool, that helped a lot. Turns out running Max under Rosetta even re-enabled all my VST2 plugins, so I can wait until the developers have upgraded their VST3 ones. AU still load slowly...
Thanks, Hans
