Cent display in retune~ object

So I'm basically trying to build a tuner. My aim is to be able to use the cent readout of the tuner to use as a value for other parameters. The audio to be analyzed is a tone with a frequency of something between 440hz and 460hz. And I want to have the deviation to 440hz read out in cent.

I am trying the patch from the retune~ help example. It measures the frequency close enough (although I wonder why it is a little different than the Ableton tuner).

What doesn't make sense to me at all is the note and cent display. Regardless of the weird numbers I would expect a cent value of maximum 50, as it should jump to the next chromatic note.
What's going on here?
