[hi] object not working with ContourDesign RollerMouse Red

Hi there!

I just received my ContourDesign RollerMouse Red, and i am trying to interface it with Max/MSP using the [hi] object. I can get the RollerMouse to show up in the umenu for the [hi] object, but when the object focuses on the RollerMouse, the [hi] object doesn't seem to generate any data. Does anyone have any suggestions as to other methods i could try for accessing the data, or ways to get the data from the [hi] object? I figured that since the RollerMouse shows up in the menu that it is indeed HID compliant, but i am stumped. Any info or advice or help would be most appreciated!! thanks so much.

Or does anyone have any suggestions for how to access or view data from a USB (supposedly HID compliant) device outside of Max , or within Max but outside of the [hi] object?

I've had a lot of problems with the [hi] object. I ended up having to use Pure Data, which seems to have a more robust hid object and then sending the data over to Max. Kind of an annoying but effective workaround.
