Convolution Reverb Pro in default set causes Live crash with high probability
Hello!
I have this issue since the release of Ableton Live 10, I have sent numerous bug reports and unfortunately the Ableton support team didn't help me to solve this problem. So here is the problem:
When I start Live, at the moment I see 'Starting Max' I wait for a crash. If I'm lucky, it passes this point and then everything works fine. But, with probability of about 80%, I get a crash. I realised that it is conected to Convolution Reverb Pro that I have in my default set. I like this device and I use it almost in any project. If I want to add it to some project not at the beginning, I get a crash at that moment, so it's easier for me to check at the beginning wheter it will work or not. But still I get angry with that every time, and ruins the creative mood.
I have Intel Core i5-2500 CPU @ 3.30 GHz, 8 Gb RAM, SSD (500 and 1000 Gb), RME Babyface Pro and 64-bit WIndows 7 Home Premium SP1. And if Live starts working then I have no problems with this setup. I have tried all the suggested updates, tried reinstalling Windows on a clean disk and then only Ableton Live, without any other programs, but still I have this issue. Like there is some random factor that may let everything work or just ruin it. So I would be very grateful to anyone who can help me understand how can I fix it.

i strongly recommend to contact the ableton support directly in your case.
Unfortunatly I hadn't such good experiences with Ableton support as I always have with C74... Yes often they do not respond. :( (meaning Ableton)
Did you try it with a new live set as well? I have seen Live sets "gone bad" in the past.
Sorry for being away for a while. Christian, I would like to do it, but last time I got only automatic replies. The last time I talked with a real human was about a year ago, and it still didn't help. This time I added Cycling74 email along with Ableton's, and only Max Gardener responded me, shared some ideas how to fix it and advised to write to M4L forum.
Jan, thanks, making a new live set was an interesting idea, the original default set causes no crash, but when I add Convolution Reverb it starts crashing again in 80% of launches. Maybe I should just give up this device, but still that seems like a tiny bug somvhere there.
Just tried using Verbatron in a default set, It also starts Max at the begining, but does not cause any crash
I think I have found a solution. If a default set contains some other Max effect (e.g. Verbatron) then Max starts working properly on Live launch. If I add Convolution Reverb Pro to set after that, there is no crash, and everything works fine. Just have tested it several times. When I remove Verbatron from the default set then Max doesn't start properly and the crash comes up again. Maybe someday Ableton makes some adjustments about that, but for now I'm satisfied with that.
