Cross-Synthesis / Morphing (I need a better solution!)
Dear all, I'm working on cross synthesis technique based on a FFT analysis and phase vocoder. I would like to create a morphing between two sounds (played with two different splay~) controlled by a slider. The slider is used to pass between the first sound to the second; in the centre of the slider they should be completely morphed into each other meanwhile at the ends of the slider the output should be just one of the original sounds (not morphed).
Unfortunately the output sound is not so satisfying and loses the original brightness.
I've attached the patches (main and pfft-abstraction).
Do you know how to get a better result?
Thank you so much!
i'm sure you have, but have you tried the example patch convolution-workshop in the spectral processing documentation? I believe it does exactly what you intend, or at least could be a good starting point.

I've also used the convolution workshop example, but found it to be a bit imprecise. I was listening to the Zynaptiq Morph vst, and I get the impression that something similar should be a possibility in Max, but I'm not sure what it is that really needs to be refined. I feel like the cross synthesis attempts I've made in Max always have a very narrow range where the two audio elements feel like they're interacting effectively.
Ircam's SuperVP for Max has a good cross-synthesis external (not free...)
