Getting MIDI from Logic Pro 9 into Max 7.0.3

Hello!

What is the best way to get MIDI data from a MIDI track in Logic Pro 9 into MAX 7.0.3? I used the Audio MIDI Setup app to create a port on the IAC driver, made sure it was online, and then created an external MIDI track in Logic Pro and tried to send the data to a "notein" object in MAX, and it successfully received the first MIDI note, but then crashed :-(. Should I be using Rewire instead? Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks very much!

Logic by default receives MIDI on all available ports and thus your external MIDI track gets its own output back over the IAC bus creating an infinite feedback loop (=crash).

A common solution is to disable the IAC input in Logic's environment by cabling the IAC outlet of the 'physical inputs' object to a 'Monitor' as dead end.

But for sending MIDI from Logic specifically to Max you may better use the virtual ports provided from Max and thus avoid the IAC bus problem.

That worked! It works absolutely flawlessly now. Thank you SO much -- I do not think I would have ever figured that out!
