gltf animations

Hi, it seems like premade animations only exist for Collada files. For .gltf, bones show up, but not animations. Is there a way around this? Otherwise, your best best is to open Blender and export as .dae which is a step down. Thanks.

hi, thanks for the report.
I've done some investigating and it looks like animation support did not make it into the 4.1.0 release of the assimp library (which we in jit.gl.model use for importing models). I'll make some time to see if the 5.1 release candidate brings in this functionality, and if so, get that in a future update.

Hi,
I know this posting is old, but any update on this? I am having trouble even finding a working example of a patch using .gltf, much less animations.

Thanks.

when I tested this a couple years back the assimp version 5 RC did not seem to improve things wrt gltf animation support, but maybe it's time to revisit.

that being said, FBX and Collada (.dae) files both support animations, and seem to be more widely used.

Hi all,

Can I bump this topic? It looks like assimp does support gltf animations. Is max currently on assimp 5? It looks like 5.3.1 is the current release. It would be great to get support for controllable animation in max with gltf

Has anything changed since this was posted? Finding a patch that works with.gltf files is a challenge in and of itself, let alone one that incorporates animations.

GLTF skeletal animations seem to work fine withk latest 8.5.6.
