Help! Trouble with sound on MAX

Hello!
I am pretty new to MAX so bare with me.
I've downloaded the 30 day free trial of MAX 8 to my Mac but I am having problems getting sound.

I've created a super simple kslider keyboard, set up to playback a chromatic scale.
I know it should work because it is identical to one i copied from a tutorial. (I'm not using it for anything just wanted to play around and make sure sound was working... )

So, ideally i want the output to be my Scarlet Solo or my headphones.
I get sound from everything else (Spotify etc) and also from the Audiotester, KeyMIDI and Miditester from within MAX. The DSP is set to Core Audio, Built-in-input and my Scarlet Solo as the output. Audio is also ON.

Yet when the kslider is playing notes... no sound?!
And no sound when i click individual notes manually either.

I've googled a ton of relevant info on ways to solve this issue but so far no joy.
I'd appreciate any help to solve this problem!

Thanks
J

What about doing "Copy Compressed" on your patch (or better, a small version of it), then posting it here? More users will be able to help you.

Do you have sound with that?

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

I know it's very basic but this is what I have so far. Just need to hear the sound before I can progress :)

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

I seem to have solved my own issue... Typical noob mistake of a wire in the wrong place. I can hear sound now!
Thanks anyhow

Sorry, the sound must have been a little loud, indeed.
By the way, what you are doing in your MIDI patch is not using Max DSP: you are going to hear the MIDI synth regardless of your Audio Status in Max. [noteout] is giving information to you OS's MIDI synth, which is playing the sound through the OS's output (not the sound card you choose in Max).
That can be confusing when you start using Max.
