How to get the ReWire object to work properly?
Hi,
I wish to use Max as a host and Propellerhead's Reason as the client by utilising the ReWire object.
I am following the instructions at https://cycling74.com/tutorials/rewire-essentials-part-two
I have downloaded the Max patches used in the tutorial, but when I open the rewire_test1 patch, nothing happens when I bang the rewire object to load the menu (Reason is not detected by Max/MSP nor is it listed in umenu).
Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to change some settings within Reason to allow it to function as a client with Max?
I'd appreciate any tips on this matter.
The most common reasons (no pun intended) why Max+rewire~ does not work for people:
1) Make sure both applications are in 64-bit mode or both are in 32-bit mode, not each in a different mode.
2) Make sure to create your [rewire~ Reason] object before you open Reason, so that it knows to open with "Rewire Slave Mode" as its audio output device.
3) MSP must be on.
Thank you! - it turns out I had Max was open in 32-bit mode and I needed it to be in 64-bit mode. That seems to have done the trick.
One other question: you mentioned MSP must be on. Isn't MSP 'on' when I open up Max 7? Or is there another step I must do?

No. By default MSP is off when you open the Max application, until you turn it on explicitly.
