I’m using a [jit.matrixset] object as a buffer in which I index shots from a Webcam and then trigger these images to make live stop-motion animation.

I would like to be able, mostly at slower fps, to dissolve each images into the next one so the images don’t change abruptly. I have difficulty to figure out if the logic I’m using it the right one for what I’m trying to achieve.

I’ve made a patch which outputs each images from [jit.matrixset] alternatively to a one of two [jit.matrix] and from there, I use [jit.xfade] to fade from one [jit.matrix] to the other.

But for now, I miss the mechanic to being able to automate the xfade and make it dynamically adapt it speed depending on the fps.

Here’s my questions : am I’m using a good way of doing this and, if so, how could I implement the mechanic to automate the xfade?

this is how I like to fade between still images. it's a bit complicated to get right, but works well and is very efficient:
