how to save some GPU&CPU power in openGL context ?

Hi,everyone: If I send "enable 0" message to some [jit.gl.] objects , can they be ignored by GPU / CPU? Or they still be calculated in the backstage though they're not displayed in the window? So what is the best way to save CPU/GPU power ，can I close the calculation whenever they 're not in the window?
