you could start with the 'Day 8' one here:

(to start you'll probably first need to adjust the position and rotation of the videoplanes within the 'camera' subpatches(try 0. 0. 0. for both rotation and position of one of them to start with, just so you can see the image directly in front better))

might be a bit of work if you're actually wanting to get the exact Dr. Who look, but it's the same idea.

i been looking at this kinda thing within jitter recently too, trying to find similar feedback stuff to what i used to generate using raytracing/reflection/refraction in other CGI environs:

As I understand it that's not how howlaround works. Typically the image is static and the camera is moved relative to it. See for example this youtube video:

you can simulate this with a 2 camera feedback setup with 1 capturing and the viewing transform linked and animated via jit.anim.drive. there's tons of ways to tweak this basic setup:

also search the file browser for camera.capture and camera.direct.feedback for 2 further examples.

(@ernest my apologies, i was the one who didn't quite glean the full idea of how norman taylor accomplished it long ago and therefore did not answer with much depth of understanding.... but really glad you asked the question: after seeing Rob's answer and understanding more of what you were looking for, favorited this thread 👍)
