Immersive Audio Installations
Hey everyone,
Am new to the forum here but have been using Max for quite some time for a variety of use cases. Really love it, it feels like an ever growing tree constantly connecting parts of our world.
I wanted to open up the topic of immersive installation, with a focus on immersive audio rendering. I'd like to get a feel for some recent projects that have happened from 2017 till now, and ones to come in 2019. I myself know quite a few which I will post, but I'm sure there is a wealth of info here in the Cycling community.
I see a lot of artists coming up with their own ways to do object based immersive audio within Max. Tools like Jamoma and SPAT and all these. Has anyone here had any first hand experience with setting up some of these installations using these tools or any others? I'm interested particularly in the problems that people have run into when setting up these systems. Technical problems like processing overheads, large speaker configurations, bad rooms etc.. and how these were overcome.
Other things I'd be interested to know is if there are any art/digital media schools focusing on immersive installation using technology like MaxMSP, puredata, supercollider and that sort of thing. Also any museums/art galleries that have this sort of technology available?
In particular, I'm interested in cost effective ways of performing immersive audio rendering to a large amount of speakers. Being an artist on low budget, I'm always looking for smart ways to achieve great results.
Here are some immersive installations that I've found to be pretty interesting, these are just the ones off the top of my head:

Hi Sean,
Being a newcomer to both immersive audio and Max, I was really glad to discover your post and would like to thank you for the links. They all look really interesting.
I just started using Reaper primarily because of it's capabilities in dealing with multi-channel audio. And it's been mainly thru their great community I've discovered a wealth of info on immersive audio. Here are some random links that might be related to your interests.
