jit.record under windows 10

Hi,

Jit.record doesn’t work at all, even in Jit.record.maxhelp under windows 10, on a brand new (powerfull) pc, Max 7.3.5.

I get this comment whenever i want to record the examples under h264, huffyuv, gif or jpeg :

jit.record error error opening file : no such file or directory

precisions :

the viddll is activated in Preferences, the 2 videos bball.mov and chickens.MP4 load and play perfectly fine.

Thanks for any help

brand new PC == forgot to install quicktime?

HERVE 's icon

well, i wish i forgot this one, but the latest quicktime version for windows was installed. I just uninstalled / re-installed it : always the same jit.record error comment.

While on the download quicktime page, i found this information :

- QuickTime 7 is for use with Windows Vista or Windows 7. If installed on other versions of Windows, it may not offer full functionality.

So the question now is , could the problem be somehow hidden in this very last remark ?

I don't think so, because you're using viddll instead of the Quicktime architecture.
Do you have full write privileges in the location you're trying to save?

So far, I tried every “reasonable” places (like videos directory from windows) but mainly my own private directories, no special reaction or warning then (from windows) but just the same message in Max console.

I’ve tried once to save directly into the Jitter directory in Max 7, but it was impossible.

I’ve also tried to use the name of an already existing video file (.mov). Then got the usual message from windows : File already exists …change it ?

answering yes, doesn’t change the jit.record response error opening file : no such file or directory.

Still wondering…

I answer now more precisely to your question Pedro. Yes, I had full privileges in the directory, I attempted to make a movie recording…but still couldn’t save.

But, I changed all the privileges in the Jitter directory (also autorized the write ones) and now Jit.record works perfectly when I choose the Jitter directory as save location.

So, thanks you very much Pedro for your answer / suggestion !
