Live.Dial for frequency control vom 20 to 20.000Hz

Hey Everybody!

Beginner Question:

I wan't to control an oscilator with an live.dial from 20 to 20.000 Hz. Live.Dial only worksup to 127. So i thought about a multiplicator to get my wanted results but the steps are getting to small to get good control about the frequency. How would you solve this?

Attached is a single Live.Dial object that should give you some answers:

Max Patch

Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

If you select the Live.Dial, open the Inspector (click the i on the righthand tool bar) and then scroll down towards the bottom you will see the following options and the settings I used:
Long Name (Frequency)
Short Name: (Freq)
Type (Float)
Range/Enum (20. 20000.)
Unit Style (Frequency (Hz))
Custom Units (Hz)
Exponent (3.5 - you might want to play with this setting to give the desired effect)
Steps (20000)

The other thing that helps with many Max UI controls, is to hold down the SHIFT key whilst operating the control - this will give much finer increments and allow for greater precision.
