Max8: m4a files don't play in Windows 10

I'm trying to load m4a files with playlist~ but they only work on Mac. I can't get them to work in Windows 10.

The error I'm getting is sfplay~ is unable to play this type of file. The rest of the formats work fine (mp3, flac, ogg, wav...). I'm using Max 8.0.0 and I've tried with this file (among others). Am I missing something?

AAC/ALAC ... requires quicktime?

Thanks for the suggestion Roman. I've installed Quicktime for Windows but it didn't help.

I've tried installing other AAC 64 bit codecs but that doesn't seem to be the problem.

Did you ever resolve this, or is this file format not supported on Windows. No issues on OSX.

I never did.

OK, thanks

sample.m4a plays fine for me in windows 7/32 and windows 10/32 using firefox or windows media player, just not max/msp.

fun fact: the sfplay helpfile explicitely states m4a would be supported.
