Max/Max for Live simply is not working with Ableton (please read full details)

I know max and max for live are two separate things. My problem is this; I have recently started my 9.99 usd subscription to (what I now assume is ONLY max, not Max for Live) Does it really cost me a full 299 to simply use max in ableton? can I not use it in ableton now that i've started my subscription?

it all started today when I saw that granulator II was on the ableton website listed as a M4L device. I proceed to try and download the demo version of Max (btw you're website has no direct download to distinctly Max for Live, so I download the only option on the cycling '74 website)

(BTW I OWN Ableton Live 9 STANDARD which DOES NOT include any Max/Max for Live Software unless you buy it separate)

I install what I now assume is ONLY Max and not Max for Live (despite reading that you need to download Max regardless if you want to use it as Max OR Max for Live)
my first issue was when I open the freshly installed software and nothing happens. No welcome box, no introductory text, no getting started, no "green authorize button" (I guess this was an old now defunct feature) There was however the typical Mac toolbar (file, edit, view, etc...)

I read that in order for anything to show up in ableton post downloading is to re-authorize your ableton. I do this, then restart Live. The Max option is not present in "File/Folder"
I figure there is some technical issue. I proceed to assume that if I begin a subscription plan (sorry I simply CANNOT afford the full program all at once) I will be able to finally use Max devices in ableton. This still does not work. I began my subscription on the actual Cycling '74 website rather than the software host.
I re-open the Max 7 software and proceed to the "User account And Licenses" tab. In the host it is acting as if I had never started a subscription (i.e. it is asking for me to start a plan or to buy the product... yes this is AFTER I log into my account, YES the SAME account that I have on the Cycling '74 website where I began my subscription)
I secondly assume there is yet ANOTHER technical issue, so now having already paid 9.99 I unhappily press the "Cancel Subscription" option.

I re-open the max 7 host software and yet again proceed to the "User account And Licenses" tab so I can attempt to start a subscription through the host rather than the website, because obviously there is some sort of integration problem. I pay a SECOND 9.99 now having paid a full 20 dollars. This time the host recognizes that I have started a subscription in that actual software (it is not prompting me to buy anything or pay any more money)
However, it is not Max for Live and is still ONLY Max 7.
I go up and down the Ableton website looking for any references to Max for Live and the ONLY link simply takes me to the Cycling '74 website (yeah thanks for the help Ableton)

My guess now is that I will only get a license to Max for Live if I pay the full 299 (which is not going to happen... especially now) which should apparently show up in my Licenses Tab on the Ableton Website.

Because I do not wish to pay a third time if someone has any sort of solution for me, I have not yet cancelled my second subscription.

I would like to say thank you to the Cycling '74 as well as the Ableton websites for being very non-user friendly. and as far as I can see now, I will not be recommending these products.

Heaven F***ing forbid someone wants to use a granualizer.
