Hello!
Do you know if is possible to record video in .mp4 format with Jitter?
jit.record seem to save only as .mov

Thank-you!

currently only .mov format containers are supported by jit.record

are there any alternate objects that have more container capability or is that pretty standard across all recording objects? I think I might be able to make it work with a .mov. Why is that the case? being able to create a .mp4 file seems pretty basic.

it's possible we could expand our container support, but for now I'd recommend using ffmpeg in combination with the shell external for all your movie file converting needs from within Max, as described at the end of this article (with a working example of doing just that): https://cycling74.com/tutorials/best-practices-in-jitter-part-2-recording-1

I just realized it really doesn't matter that the container is .mov as long as I can write in h264 codec. for all newbies knowing the difference between container and codec and their respective capability is paramount. I have been battling away trying to get an offline render for a couple of weeks now and it just takes a lot of persistence and sturdy work. using the example patch with some modification in Jitter tutorial nineteen, I was able to render a 1920 x 1080 movie with heavy processing perfectly in the h264 codec with .mov container 30fps. Thanks @robramirez I know I have been poking around alot and asking questions, but it is all worth it once you get over the mountain.
