noob question about overdrive

hi everyone!

first of all, i am quite a noob when it comes to Max.

i am trying to recreate a B3 Hammond organ for a final project for a class, and it was recommended that I create some type of overdrive in order to create positive distortion. apart from stashing this in a poly~, i don't really know where to start. i've attached the patch i'm working on below.

thanks in advance!

outside the poly, on the sum.

which sum were you referring to? (i assume that you mean that I should add the distortion to the main patcher, not the ADD patch.

thank you for replying!

the sum of the individual voices, yes. (and they are summed at the poly outlet...)

unless i am completely desorientated a hammond organ just has a tube preamp at the main out, and nothing which should be replicated per voice.

btw, for a simple tube preamp distortion effect you should experiment a bit with the [tanh~] object (in conjuntion with gain changes of its input) it gets you much closer to a preamp than the overdrive object.
