Objects missing ('No such object' multiple errors)
Hello all,
Status: Near beginner (apologies for any ignorance) in a pickle
OSX 10.12.6
MaxMSP 7.3.4
Complete patch folder: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1t7FM_PKfDG_9Q_iUfVAbt8lhza9rJU3X
Music piece: Romitelli - 'Amok Koma'
Errors:

As you can see the patch doesn't work properly when I open the file Romitelli-amoKKoma bruxelles-konzert.
I've tried on Windows 10, and on Max 4.5 (asked in the info documents within the project folder). I used Google Translate to translate the entire instruction PDF and it seemingly does a good job but sadly the instruction file refers to none of the above errors.
Here is the English translation https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jn2y0FLpf_i7vZfbp6oi1EpX_8D97WKhv3JX5fBfcRs/edit?usp=sharing
This file is for an upcoming concert that I'm hoping to be helping out with but this has got me stumped despite my numerous and attempts and frantic Googling - any help will be hugely appreciated!
From the errors in status window, the patch is using a bunch of
old externals that either are not in the search path, and even worse can't be loaded into max 7.
Maybe some of them could work if You set max to run in 32 bit mode.
I will download the patch and look at it.
Maybe one could get something out of it, maybe compiling a standalone
in older version...
@Source Audio - thanks for the reply - I'll try downloading 4.5 again to see if I've missed anything.
The version of Max I'm already running is in 32-bit so it's got me a little stumped.
Thanks for offering to check out the patch!
It is as I thought - typical chaotic old max patch.
Resource forks are lost, so none of max patches are recognised,
total chaos, some patches are binary, some text format, but I could fix that.
The main problem that You have is that Spat Reverberation externals which are
commercially distributed through Ircam Forum are used in that patch
and are not included, probably because one has to buy them ...
To convert this old patches to max7 would be very time consuming.
--------
If You can make max runtime 4.6 work on Your Mac, I would rescue
the patches and send them to You...
But I have no interest to debug the original programming, or fix
any mistakes, anomalies or anything in that direction.
So I'd have to buy the Spat collection (£100 ish) to make this patch work and even then there's no guarantee it will play right with certain OS /Releases or am I mistaken? Thanks once again
I could build You a standalone which would include Spat objects.
I have old version of it for Mac.
The thing is - as most of composers from that period, not being
very versatile in max programming, the patches are usually a mess,
with many unnecessary leftovers from trying things out,
too complicated logic to achieve simple tasks and similar.
That makes it difficult and time consuming to port it to
new max versions, despite the fact that also quite few
vanilla cycling externals behave differently from version to version,
which means even if everything looks allright, the result could differ
from what was meant.
That's why I think it would be best to try with max 4.6 runtime.
It should run on sierra if You disable gatekeeper.
There are 2 main patches in that folder,
Romitelli-amoKKoma Mons-enregis and
Romitelli-amoKKoma bruxelles-konzert
which is the one that You need ?
You can download from here :
https://files.fm/u/4e69h7b7
It is all You need to run patches with max 4 or 6, but 32 bit only
Put Spat folder in Max search path, and Audio files as well as SoundFont
must be placed in the same folder as main patches.
If You need any help, just ask
@Source Audio I just realized I never thanked you and I feel completely ashamed that I didn't - you, sir, were so kind to help me like that and I really appreciate it. I've now got the project working thanks to your help and whilst it's still got a few artifacts - from what I assume is the dodgy programming of the original patch, odd distortion and feedback - It's further than I could have possibly hoped to go on my own steam - so it's a sincere thank you from me
hey, no need for anything like that - contributing here is at least for me,
a matter of sharing and helping, not earning any thanks or similar.
I'm glad it worked for You with the patch, but as You say it is a bit
dodgy programming, maybe You have to rethink or even remove a thing or 2,
to make it sound better.
For example distortion with degrade
