Recording video/audio in Max 7

Hi everyone!

I would like to apologise in advance if the question is lame, but I am very new to Max and currently using it for a uni project. The aim is to sync visuals and audio in Max, I have already created the visuals by following one of the built-in tutorials and created and exported my track from Ableton into the patch window in Max.

I have two problems - I don't know how to record the audio and visuals at the same time as I am using two different objects in Max 7 as it can be seen on the screenshot. I tried by using a bang and toggle objects for the video recorder but it doesn't seem to do anything. Ideally, I wanted Max to start the video and audio record buttons the moment I press play on the audio track. Also, I don't know how to randomise the visuals that I get on screen. The draw_mode object has a list of about 10 options and I wanted to randomise that so instead of just having quads, I will get other elements such as triangles, lines, polygon etc.

It would be great if anyone can give me an idea how to solve these problems.
