Sending OSC messages vis Thunderbolt cable between Macbook Pros?

Is it possible to send OSC messages vis Thunderbolt cable between Macbook Pros? I'd appreciate your suggestion if any other solution is better.
I am planning to generate audio on one Macbook Pro from Ableton or Max, and generate visuals on the other Macbook Pro. I would like to stay 'wired' for stability.

Many thanks for your help,
Masa

Create a private wifi network on one computer. Join it with the other.
Use udpsend on one computer. Udprecieve on the other.
Voila !

If you're asking of ethernet over thundbolt works, it does, though I've never done computer to computer with thunderbolt, but I have done a bunch of thunderbolt to ethernet for OSC/network stuff.

Dear Andro,

Thanks! But previously I had a serious speed issue at the venue with many WiFi signals flying around..., so I am trying to avoid a wireless solution.
But I recently learned, if you bring your own router, and choose a WiFi channel carefully, it would be fine. Can you choose a WiFi channel when using only computers (MacBook Pros)?

Dear Rodrigo,

Thank you! I can choose the ethernet protocol with two Thunderbolt - Ethernet adopters, but it would be a cleaner setup without the adopters.
Maybe I should experiment myself if OSC data can be sent over a Thunderbolt cable or not...

As Thunderbolt can "encapsulate" a network connection, it is possible to do it similarly to a regular wired ethernet connection.
The only problem with connecting 2 computers directly (be it through ethernet, thunderbolt, or other means) is that there is no DHCP server managing the network (assigning IPs, defining router/gateways, subnet masks, dns servers, etc.), so if you want to avoid any problem you should manually configure your network settings.

Thanks a lot Pedro. It's great to hear that I can connect them via Thunderbolt.
Could you kindly let me know keywords for Googling to configure the network correctly? I am not knowledgeable about network.

Hey, I'm currently trying to send UDP via Firwire from a mac pro (Fw400) and a Macbook Pro (Fw800), I have them connect but I can't seem to receive anything via UDP? Any suggestions?

Hi, I am having the problem, that when I create a local network on one of my devices, there is no IP adres given.
I see this instead: Wifi does not have an Ip adress and cannot connect to the internet.
I don't need to be connected to the internet right? I just want to talk to my macbook via OSC over UDP
