shell object and text-to-speech - Mac 10.13 issue?

Hi,

I'm having trouble getting Jeremy Bernstein's shell object to work with speech (i.e. say) on Mac 10.13.5. Specifically I can't get (say -v Albert speak this text) to work. I can get the more basic (say speak this text) to work, I just can't change voices. I can type "say -v Albert speak this text" into terminal and it works fine.

There are a couple of great example patches here: https://cycling74.com/forums/text-to-speech-patch. Everything works fine on an older OS, such as 10.11.6.

Has anyone else run into this problem or know of any work arounds?
