I need a software on Windows which can playback Midi-Files AND can be controlled by SMPTE or LTC Timecode (don't even really know what the difference is).

I thought, Max could be a tool. Is it? I am looking at the "seq" object right now. 

My Master Software is Pandoras Box (from Christie). But Pandora doesn't playback Midi-Tracks. 

Ideally I would like to run the assisting Midi-Software (Max) on the same PC.

you have some chance if that master software sends midi time code,

but there is no object I know off that translates smpte audio signal into

any usable sync signal to use for midi sync in max.
