I have an installation that reads many different videos, using (jit.movie @loop 0 @output_texture 1 @colormode to uyvy) and it is connected to a jit.gl.videplane.

The point is that I clean the jit.movie object each round of videos that last 5 minutes more or less, and the message to clean is (dispose 1). It seems to work, cpu memory goes down again each round.

What is a mystery for me, is why jit.movie after one hour starts to send error messages saying not possible to read the movies linked to a folder, it goes perfectly for an hour but then something that has to be related to memory is not really cleaning properly. What do I miss here?

Here is the reader I use, just imagine I have at least other 20 of them.

in order to debug these long term issues, i really need the complete project. if you can zip everything up and email it to me with *exact* steps to get it running, i can take a look. even better if you can also send me a media file as an example.

Ok I can send you the patch, but the video folder is at least 20GB of videos. Not sure how to send you all the project. It has two languages, if I send you only english maybe it can be sent by wetransfer. Let me check.

I am experiencing a similar problem - after some period of time, jit.movie~ will refuse to load videos with an error like "couldn't read file somevideoofmine.mp4". I am using asyncread and the previous video is disposed before a new one is read. When debugging with a file path I know for sure is correct, I get the same error once it has gotten stuck. Usually it will run fine for about an hour.

Any insights you might have would be strongly appreciated!

i think i've gotten this sorted out, so we be good if you could test something out.

If you find the solution I will be happy to test. For now I'm running the installation with an automatic close at 1h of runnig, with an automatic re-open just after.
