unexisting object ?

In 2005, I created a patch using an object that seems not to exist any more : tap.5comb~ When opening the patch in 2020, I get the "no such object" message. And, of course, I can't even open the object to edit it...

What can I do ? What other object could replace the original one ?

The TapTools are still available from here.
And tap.5comb~ is still there, and does work with Max8, 64bits.

Thanks for the rapid answer, PDELGES ! As you may infer, I'm rather an amateur with Max, working with it episodically and circumstantially. So here am I, on the GitHub site, where I did find the tap.5comb~.maxpat. Yessss ! But what now ? How do I import that patch ? How can I place it in the 2005 patcher window where the tap.5comb~ object was said to not exist ? Thanks in advance for your help !

What's your version of Max?

Ideally, you should download the whole TapTools package and follow ± the instructions on the web site (i.e. place the TapTools folder inside Max' Packages folder).

1) I recently updated to Max8. 2) I eventually noticed that the only page of the GitHub site where the downloading button appears is the first one. So I did import the whole of TapTools, placed it in the Max8 Packages folder, and ! Miracle ! When I reopened the 2005 patch, there was the tap.5comb~ object available (that is : existing !).

But... I still have trouble making it work. Two problems :

1) when double-clicking on the tap.5comb~ object, I get a patcher window but I can't modify its dimension. Only by choosing a 50% zoom can I see the actual content of the tap.5comb~ patch.

2) When doing this, I see that there is "oranged" object : tap.typecheck~ . I had noticed that the MAX Console has been sending the following message :

tap.typecheck~: unable to load object bundle executable
2020-03-11 11:48:16.508 Max[1593:169818] Error loading /Users/adonwe/Documents/Max 8/Packages/TapTools/externals/tap.typecheck~.mxo/Contents/MacOS/tap.typecheck~: dlopen(/Users/adonwe/Documents/Max 8/Packages/TapTools/externals/tap.typecheck~.mxo/Content
s/MacOS/tap.typecheck~, 262): no suitable image found. Did find:
/Users/adonwe/Documents/Max 8/Packages/TapTools/externals/tap.typecheck~.mxo/Contents/MacOS/tap.typecheck~: no matching architecture in universal wrapper

I found this tap.typecheck~ object in the Externals folder of TapTools of a 4.6 version of Max that is still on my computer, and copied it to the Externals folder of TapTools of Max8. But it didn't solve the problem. The object is still orange and the patch is not working...

?!?

Another detail : when placing the imported material from GitHub, I only placed in the Max8/Packages folder the TapTools folder, and not all the other folders that came with the download (Core, max-idk, objectivemax and source. They are now in a Max8/importation folder that I created. Should I have placed all of those in Packages ?

The redimensioning of the tap.typecheck~ window is solved. Why ? I don't know... But the patch still doesn't work, probably because of the oranged tap.typecheck~ object...

Found the solution : the tap.typecheck and tap.typecheck~ objects have been removed from TapTools and have to be replaced by typeroute included in Max.

https://github.com/tap/TapTools/commit/06b8e260d8bd7e943c93c96af46201fa5966dbcc

I did that and everything works fine now ! Thanks for all the inputs, PDELGES.

I think we met years ago, in Liege (B) where I had to amplify an onde martenot for one of your pieces…
