After I installed Max 8.3.1 I always get an error in the console that says "universal: No such object" whenever I open the Audio Status window. I also noticed that I don't have the object "timer" as well. I have never used the object universal before but I have used timer a lot of times and it seems a little weird. Could it be that something went wrong during installation?

don't you have a timer.maxpat and universal.maxpat in your search path somewhere ?

Now I cleared everything -_- I was trying to use Click Tracker (https://jmmmp.github.io/clicktracker/) and I just put the files in my Library folder. Max was confused because there were other instances of the same objects. I removed the files from my Library and know everything is working, thanks!

ah right !putting a max application inside the max search path will easily lead to a lot of confusion, indeed :)
