Use midi keyboard with Max/MSP and Ableton Live at the same time

Hello,

I'm trying to use a keyboard both with Max and Ableton Live at the same time.
It works with my Novation Remote 25 SL MkII but not with the two others keyboards : CME U-Key or Nektar Panorama P4
I get this error : "midi_mme: error 7 opening output device [name_of_keyboard].

Is it due to number of keyboard port ? Is it wrong to use it with two softwares at the same time because there is a lock system ?

If you have some idea, it would really help me.

You can intercept the MIDI keyboard first in Max and then send a copy of the event along "From Max 1". Ableton Live then only listens to this virtual device, blissfully unaware of what's really happening. There shouldn't be any locking issues as no midi device is opened twice.

Thanks @Hens. I need to find a way to make my computer recognize "From Max 1" because I don't see it in Live Ableton.

@Evan, I'm on Windows 8.1

I was searching for a further generic solution , as using a kissbox to centralise all midi input. Because I don't know the midi material in advance...
