Using MAX as an external effect?

Hi all,

So I came across this video where the audio from the DAW (pro tools) is bused/routed out of PT through a MAX/MSP delay patch and then back into PT. I am trying to replicate the same thing but for Windows and using the DAW FL Studio, does anyone know if this can be done? I've downloaded tools like Jack (which seems to crash on my system) and Virtual Audio Cable by VB-Audio but I can't get the same results on my system.

I have a few patches already pre-made to mangle live audio from mic inputs but I would love to be able to do it internally using the method explained in the video.

I hope someone has a better clue than I do!

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, had a crack at the other two as well but didn't get very far. I actually got very close to achieving what I set out to do but Jack kept crashing (like usual) and Synchronous Audio Driver made the system quite unstable (no BSOD but needed to restart the system quite often to refresh the drivers).

The solution I came across involved Jack and SAD which then used Catia as a way to visually patch the outputs and inputs. The major trouble I had here is that for some unknown reason I could not get SAD to invert the inputs/outputs as they were the wrong way around. So, for example, if I named two channels as 'Audio Output 1' and 'Audio Output 2' they would show up in 'Playback' rather than 'Record' in Window's Sound Options which is the reverse of the video I followed.

This is the video I'm referring to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzd7naKzRgw

Soundflower 2.0b2 works great on Mac OS 10.13.6 between MaxMSP and Kontakt. No idea how well the Windows version works, but it is possible.
