vst~ not passing MIDI events?

Wondering if anyone else is having this problem or if I'm doing something stupid. I had a patch around December/January that used a vst instrument (e.g. 4Front Piano, free and downloadable on the internet) inside the vst~ object. Everything was working fine but loading that patch up again, it appears as if all midievent messages don't pass anything to the vst. Even opening the help for vst~ and trying to load the instrument as described by the instrument tab doesn't produce output, whereas before it did.

Any thoughts? The VST works in every other Daw I have (Reaper and Logic) and passes auval.

OSX 10.12.2, Max/MSP 7.3.3. 4Front Piano v1.1.

Sorry - I mispoke. It IS an audio unit. I was just using vst~ before and it functioned correctly...

Just did a quick test and it works for me (OSX 10.12.4, Max 7.3.3).

Max Patch
Copy patch and select New From Clipboard in Max.

Ah! Perfect! Updated to 10.12.4 and everything works again.

Thanks for the help!

Actually, edit: Seems to only work if the sample buffer size is 1024 or less. Is this a known issue or a bug?

I can confirm this limitation and found that It applies also to other plugins like 'Pianoteq' but not to 'sforzando' from Plogue for example. So probably Max is not the culprit.
