It would require building some server-side code using socket.io or some other kind of API, but it's definitely possible.

I used socket.io to achieve rooms. It's one of the built in features which makes it very easy. I've since a while ago moved all the backend to google firebase though and implemented my own way of managing rooms through the database schema. I would have a tinker with https://socket.io first which you can interact with via node.script!

I've had an itch to really explore what is possible with the C++ export functionality provided by RNBO and what its limitations are...

While it seemed to work pretty flawlessly in desktop applications I thought about the many years of using UDP to send signals from my phone to Max MSP over networks and wondered whether it would be finally possible to have everything packaged up as an Android app.

After a few brain-scratching days, I've come up with a slightly hacky solution - fixing problems as they arise in the exported RNBO library code. It's early days but I've put up a Git repository which I'll keep updating as I make the process a little more stable.

One of the first issues that arises when trying to include the RNBO files in an Android project is that the "RNBO_PlatformInterface" class produces a "SIGSEGV" error - a segmentation error when a function is retrieved via "Platform::get()-> ..." . This works fine when building for desktop (using MSVC 14.34.31933) but doesn't with Clang (Android Studio's compiler of choice). I assume the issue lies with LLVM libc++. I'll do some more digging.

By converting all Platform::get()-> calls to their counterpart stdlib calls (and just including the stdlib platforminterface to cover the "toString()" call) the library builds properly and runs!

In terms of actually getting sound out, the Oboe library (which polyfills AAaudio configurations for older versions of Android) provides a useful custom callback to call the rnbo process function.

Have you tried explicitly setting a platform interface before running the RNBO code?

I *think* the stdlib one should work but maybe there is some issue with static initialization since you're building RNBO as a library?

Yes! This was going to be my next step.
The sigsegv fault is pretty tedious to navigate during debug.  I'll post an update once I get round to it.

That's it! I think I had some issues with the "build.gradle" project configuration that have been resolved by starting afresh and using the latest NDK - it runs with or without the platform interface being explicitly set.

Hello! I have this question. Is it possible to download the RNBO.js separately? I would like to encourage the cabiles-gl team to include it in their internal js libraries. It would be cool to create your own operators with max functionality. To what extent is this possible and legal?)

I noticed that unlike in Max with poly~ that on polyphonic patches with RNBO voice stealing can lead do audible clicks. Has anyone found a good solution to that? Or is is possible to disable voice stealing on polyphonic RNBO patcher?

It's a synth that I am building, so I can't sync swanramp~ to a phasor~ or any other predictable event.  [adsr~] -> [rampsmooth~ ] did the trick.

Is there currently another way to prevent voice stealing other than ignoring input to non muted voices

This is an update inn case someone stumbles across this thread in the future. 

I realised that the clicks I encountered were mainly related to the raspberry pi changing dynamically clock speeds when voices are muted. An it seems to be that if a new voice gets activated and the processors clock ramps up, this is what caused some of the clicks.

Following this guide  (https://beebom.com/how-overclock-raspberry-pi-4/) and adding good cooling to the Pi 4 I managed to overclock it to 2.3 GHz! 

But the main impact had to my experience setting 

in /boot/config.txt. This seems to prevent the Pi to lower the clock speed when idle and it becomes more responsive to sudden demanding events.

I noticed though a clearly audible noise that sounds like processor noise/something spilling over the board electronics.

I used and external USB audio interface for he tests that I had at hand (Zoom U24) and the Pi was powered by the official RasPi power supply. The noise persists even when not connected to ethernet.

Has anyone experiences or tips how to best eliminate or reduce those interference?

@Jan, I am also interested in using RBNO with Rasp. Still waiting for a Rasp 4 because of the shortage. In between I bought a "HiFi Berry DAC+ ADCPro" to use it with the hopefully coming soon Rasp.

@Jan, noise sounds like typical ground loop,  might be via the USB audio interface.
(unfortunately, USB can be a prone to this, though often its fine)

Ive just setup RNBO on rPI3b with pisound, seems to work nicely.
blokas pisound is a good solution, since you get not only audio io, but also midi, which is pretty handy in this scenario , where I want to create standalone instruments/fx.

But yes the audio interface I used isn't the best, just a spare one that I had lying around.
I would be very interested in your experiences with the PiSound as this was the interface I had in mind for the final setup.  do you think it would be good enough also for a studio/recording setup?

I did a little more testing, and it seems to be that temperature is a factor. If I add a DI Box with ground lift the background noise is negligible - at least for live/gig situations. 
But it starts creeping in again as soon as the Pi runs hot (which is unfortunately easily the case with the Pi4).
so adding some active cooling seems to be work in my case.

ground loops often do sound like processor activity... basically its  switching noise. your ground lift basically shows this is the case.

I'm surprised cooling has much effect on it, as usually its more cpu speed processing related, due to how much power its pulling (and the power usage on the rPI4 makes this more common that older rPIs)
but I dont know all the electrical enginneering behind this, rather more usage experience of various SBCs.

Ive not noticed any noise with the PiSound... they have the specs on their websites, 
note: I use a rPI3b with the 1.0 PiSound, as Ive had it for a while, 
so probably a good idea to check for experiences with rPI4 and the newer 1.1 (?) pisound.
But its a quality product as far as Im concerned, and lots use it.
