That work fine with the linear mode but I forgot to say that it is with the curve mode that I would wish to do that.

I have a new trouble to  send change of parameters from a "master" object "function" (UI) to several "slaves" objects "function".
In mode curve.
My new trouble is to send sustain point.
Add a sustain point in the master function is not transmitted to the slaves function. However, if I add sustain point in slaves function, when I remove the sustain point or when I change position of any sustain points in the master function, sustain points in the slaves function disappear.

How to transmit the sustain points from a master function to several slaves functions ?

hi, i haven't really checked this through properly. it's a bit rushed, but it might be a solution:


why don't you just use pattr ?
(this way, all parameters, including sustain point, range & domain are sent with only one cable...)

I built a standalone app and would like to include a function that the patcher saves to disc at closebang without having a Mac dialog appear. 

The idea is to save a few data in the app each time it is closed without asking the user to save it.

Is there any command available to do so? I checked the complete browser but cannot find any. Is there are workaround to get there?

You'll need to save stuff to the standalone's preferences folder.

- my app does not have or create a preference folder, or at least I cannot find it. Where would it be? In user/Library/Preferences?
- and how do I save to the preferences? Sorry I've never done that...
- is there any tutorial or so?

You can set a custom name for your app's prefs using the standalone object, in its inspector.


to get the path to it, which you can use to save things. In general, users do not have permission to modify  apps folders.

Sorry Andrew and Floating Point, but the problem is not solved yet. Yes I can create a folder in "~Library/Application Support", write a .txt-file into it, but I can't read it out, because the separation of the two words "Application" and "Support" makes any "read" command to the "Text"-object assuming additional arguments. When I make a symbol out of the path, it cannot find it. How do I access "Application Support" from within a patch?

you need to enclose the file path in double quotes, for example:
(read "my mac/Library/Application Support/my text.txt")

you can use the tosymbol object to help with this

Save the patcher function inside a standalone

Take a look at the following super simple batch

Its just an adstatus 0 connected to a umenu - nothing to it.  Just adding it here in case it helps. Reports my inputs / what hardware is in use for inputs.

I've been attempting to build a patch that re-connects to particular inputs / outputs whenever possible (using a 5 sec heartbeat rather than real time) - but thats another story.  Made some interesting discoveries, and also managed to crash max a 

However, tonight when finishing up another idea, I noticed some slightly unexpected behaviour.  For giggles, (and just following my nose) I printed the output of adstatus to the console - and saw something super interesting.  To me at least.  Its likely well known to many knowledgable folk here.

Whenever I went into the Audio Status menu (options) - and changed the audio driver to none, adstatus sent a clear, and just a single clear message - as expected. 

However, when I changed back to "core audio" it would send out a bunch of messages with strange (to me) behaviour.  Its like it repeated itself entirely - but also, the "set 2" messages (to get the current list of inputs) seemed repeated for no reason at all.

Note getting everything twice - and many "set 2"'s in a row (not exactly doubled completely)

I'm kinda at sea as to why its happening.  Is it because the Audio Status menu is actually itself just using adstatus?  But then why the odd "set 2" behaviours?

Has anyone got any ideas on what is occuring here?  It actually completely explains some other behaviours I saw when trying to implement my reconnect function in entirely different ways - likely even leading me to abandoning the direction and trying something else new.

I am assuming what your looking for is when a pad is hit at velocity x it triggers sound file y and when its velocity a it triggers sound file b??

If your importing the midi data from the pad then each pad with have a note and velocity, you can then have the velocity trigger different sound file.

I ran into an interesting instance of negation, or rather lack thereof, in the course of programming a MIDI recorder.  As we all know, there are 128 Control messages (CCs), including pedal data. I want to pass on all CCs to the sequencer 

 number 67, damper pedal, which I intend as a recording trigger, as I don't have much other use for it.

The point: I can specify which CCs to pass on, but I can't specify the one(s) I do NOT want to pass on to the seq. That means passing a list of ALL CCs minus number 67 to ctlin or midiselect. I think there should be a simpler way, like with a negation sign (-67) or parentheses (functionally the same, formally different).

the idea is similar for the js scl reader.js object but instead of pre writing a file with a list of ratios/cents you enter a list of frequencies instead.
