I am trying to create a Max Patch to reproduce the behavior of a Ciat Lonbarde AVDog.

AVDog has an oscillator, vca/gate, stereo panning and most important a filter which is sub audio rate 0.4 to 12. Sending a trigger into the filter you get a waveform out from the filter which is then used as an envelope to pan the oscillator left to right and to open and close the vca/gate. The filter Q will decide how long it takes for the "envelope" to settle back to 0.

I saw on Dylan B. on youtube emulating the AVDog on an Arduino and the result is very convincing:

It inspired me to try and do it on Max but I am not satisfied with  the result. I think the way I map the Waveform could be improved but I  have no idea, suggestions would be very welcome.

I’m  excited about the new @automute attribute for thispoly~, but I’m having trouble getting it to work.

I’m using it in combination with the @activeout attribute of curve~ in the patch below.

If I understand correctly, thispoly~ should automatically unmute an instance when it receives a note or midinote message, and then automatically mute the instance after it detects two silent vectors coming from line~ or curve~. Is that right?

In my patch, I can see that the second outlet of curve~ is outputting zero, but the instance stays active and doesn’t mute automatically. Am I missing something?

I rarely use the tutorials in my own works, but use them a lot to help beginner Max users understand new concepts.

In Max 9 the Tutorials have been moved online. This is a problem if you work offline. But what is worse is that the tutorial patches have been moved. Inside the tutorials you must select "Download Series Assets", and then unzip "Max Tutorials.zip". Inside the tutorials, it says which patch to use. For instance in "Tutorial 1: Hello", it says "This tutorial references the patcher 01mHello.maxpat". You then go to the folder that you downloaded, search for "01mHello.maxpat", and open that patch.

In Max 8 you just press "Open Tutorial" inside Max, and the patch opens.

Is it possible for Cycling74 to move the tutorial patches back into Max for ease of use?

I'm new to Max/MSP and Max for Live, and I'm trying to understand how to control Ableton Live's BPM from a Max patch.

I built a progressive metronome in Max (outside Ableton) that can gradually increase or decrease BPM over time. Now I would like to turn it into a Max for Live device so it can actually control Ableton's global tempo.

I'm struggling with how to correctly access and set Live's tempo.
