i want to prepare my Laptop and GitHub repository for developing c-externals with Max 8.2 SDK, Visual Studio 2022 and CMAKE 3.23.0 for Max 9.0.4. on Windows 10. Therefor i want to clear some points:

I have cloned the max-sdk in my Max 9 Packages Folder like it is described at

For developing my own c-externals i want to copy and rename existing source code from the 

 folder as a starting Point for modifying the code for my needs. 

After finishing the external I want to push my own c-external Code to my own private GitHub Repository.

I just started working with the min-devkit a little bit and I am running into a weird crash I don't quite understand (see code snippet below).  I am on Sequoia 15.1.1 on a 2023 M3 using Max 8.6.5.

If I send something out an outlet, starting with a string followed by a single number (e.g. float), that works. Anything else seems to cause a crash.

What I am trying to do is add a string before a list of floats so I can use [route] in max to further process the output.

Furthermore, when I use a string followed by atoms

If I go to c74_min_atom.h it clearly states on line 319 that:

I might have a fundamental misunderstanding here, but it looks like that if we deal with atoms we can't use 

, but in queue_argument() from c74_min_outlet.h (line 282) we clearly use .push_back() to try to add something to 

So, long story short: what is the correct way of sending something like:

std::vector<float> data = {....};
std::string routing = "data";

to_outlet.send(routing, data);

so in max I can use [route data] to process the output?

Here are the different ways I have tried to use this and the results:

I'm trying to port my old sfmarkers~ external to ARM and just noticed it doesn't work for AIFF files since some Max versions.

I does work with Max8.1.11 but not with 8.3.3 and later (on intel, 64bits).

As far as I still understand my 20+ years old code,  the call to 

 pointer in the _sndfileinfo structure, even if markers are present in the soundfile.

Did something change in  sndfile_info() between Max8.1 and Max8.3?

I'm writing my external object in C hoping to receive any message(even with spaces in it) and transfer the message into one string so that I can do data process in C. I have looked at some chapters in MaxAPI  and did some test. Seems max likes to take the message and transfer into atoms which I do not need. I just need the raw data. Can anyone help? Thanks~

I've made such great progress on my externals that I'm ready to try some cross platform support! First step, get Min to build on MacOS. I'm very unfamiliar with MacOS ecosystems, so I was hoping the initial steps here would be easy. That doesn't seem to be the case.

I'm on a MacBook Pro, 2020, Apple M1, maxOS Monterey 12.2.1

* Install Xcode from the Appstore. Done. (whew)

* Go to the Package Manager in Max and install Min-Devkit. Done

* Launch Min-Devkit from Package Manager, click Create a Package, press the big button, enter a name.

min.project: A problem occurred trying to create the new package

So... let's try cloning from github, and following the directions 

* Delete the min-devkit folder that Package Manager installed.

git clone https://github.com/Cycling74/min-devkit.git --recursive. 

* mkdir build -> cd build -> cmake -G Xcode .. -> "error. unknown command Cmake."

* cmake -G Xcode .. -> This time it tries do do something. But it fails per the image below.

I have attached the two logs suggested as well.

Any advise would be much appreciated. Looking forward to be able to share my work with my Mac-using colleagues. Thanks!
