I'm trying to create a M4L device with a button that, when pressed, sets the output routing of the selected track (the track containing this device) to a custom track named "MASTER" . In my project template, this custom "MASTER" track is always the first track (ID 0).

I’ve tried various methods, including using 

 to capture the routing option for "MASTER" and attempting 

, but I’m running into issues with getting it to reliably set to this target track.

i have a live.dial mapped and controlled by a hardware encoder.

this live.dial is controlling any assigned parameter set with an id.

to do that i set it with the selected_parameter. (with the mouse)

everything is working fine, the value is set to the live.dial so there are no value jumps on the encoder when changing the id.

but, two things are not working properly:

first. when making fast value changes then the live.dial starts to jitter and dont stop anymore.

i tested with different encoders or even analog pots mapped to the live.dial. same.

second. when im recording in ableton then

both the live.dial and the mapped parameter are recorded to automation.

now, i dont want to have the live.dial recorded to automation.

the live.dial has to be <Visible to Mapping> to be mapped - obviously.

if its set to <Automated and Stored> it is recorded in automation. - dont want.

if i set it to <stored only> or <hidden> then its not mappable anymore.

hello everybody! I have a little problem. I am using fiddle~ to detect the pitch of microphones in ableton. I have created this patch. I have 4 microphones. So I place this .amxd patch in four separate tracks . If I have only one track everything is fine, but then, when I start adding the four tracks, each one with his own pitch detection, fiddle starts behaving erraticaly. ANY HELP???

I am using the [vst~] object to load the Diva Synthesizer, and I’m trying to retrieve preset names using the pgmnames message. However, when attempting to retrieve certain preset names, such as "BT the master himself(at+mw+pb)", it gets truncated, resulting in an output like "BT the master himse". This issue occurs with several preset names. I suspect there might be a character limit, but the truncation doesn’t seem to happen at a consistent number of characters.

Does anyone know of a solution or workaround for this?

Hello. I've been having an issue with a device I've been developing. The device uses the BrowseRouting abstraction to allow a second set of input channels (3+4) whose audio is from one of any tracks in the live set. The issue I've been experiencing is that it is possible to ask, through the umenu object, for the device to pull input audio from its parent track. The audio is routed through the device, processed, routed again, processed again - you get it. The sound is unbearable and certainly a safety hazard. 

I'm here to ask (meekly - I'm only a month into using Max) if there's a way to modify the BrowseRouting abstraction to ignore its parent track when using live.observer to call IDs from the live set.  Or, short of that, if there is a way to guarantee it won't feed back in such a way that could be damaging. 

Willing to share my code if that would help at all, but as of right now my use of the abstraction is very straightforward.

Hi there. I'm trying to use a subpatcher from the toolbox AudioRoutings ( https://cycling74.com/articles/audio-routings-a-new-system-for-multi-channel-routing-in-ableton-live ). There is an instance (an object created by that team) which lists all the possible audio tracks in Live. I would like to use that list (therefore that object) for a project of mine. On the object is written that, in order to uset, it is sufficient to copy it into a subpatcher. However, when I do this, some related objects become unusable, and I get written "No such object" in the console. Any possible solution? Thanks!

I made a patch that outputs 1 if the playhead is within the loop range and 0 if it is not. It works fine, it's only that when Live is playing back and then leaves the loop range, it takes a bit until the output switches to zero.

My guess is because the patch is constantly checking for every float point number of the playhead position whether it is within the range and during playback that results in a lot of operations.

If Live is not playing back, then the output changes super quick when clicking in/out of the loop range.

Would appreciate some help if someone knows how to get this reacting more quickly :)

I hope to find some help here. I'm a little bit familiar with Max and I realized some smaller projects (audio effects, basic signal generators, some utility devices). Now, I'm about to learn how to control Live via a M4L device and I run into some difficulties.

My goal: I want to create a floating Max for Live device which mirrors Live's native Echo device (for use under certain live conditions).

I started with the rather easy stuff. I did a replication of the Echo GUI and a patcher with a zoomable floating window. Next step, controlling the Live parameter. With success, I reused some examples to create a bidirectional control (see GIF).

My issue: In my configuration, I need to map the parameter I want to control manually. And the way I catch the device parameter seems pretty convoluted – especially when I start to control 30+ controls (see PNG).

My question: what might be the simplest way to get all the device parameter ID's of a Live device which is on the left from my Max for Live device? (There is a similar example in the Building Max Devices pack, but I can't adapt it for my needs)
