Hey, Im trying to set the latency dynamically (not here, just isolating the problem) and I'm getting "Cannot set latency, device not ready. Use live.thisdevice to determine when ready." although I'm already using that to trigger the message. I've tried to delay for a few milliseconds and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Any idea for a more robust solution? Thanks!

After writing my first patch with the help of TFL (thanks again to you!), which you can find 

, I asked myself the question of combining Guitar Pro and Ableton Live.

I work a lot with Guitar Pro, but this DAW has its limits. Apart from tempo management, which I was able to integrate into Ableton Live via M4L, MiDi is very limited and can only be used to play other software or hardware instruments, no more, no clock management, no association with any kind of controller... 

However, Guitar Pro is an excellent score editor. It's subjective, but it's very much geared towards string instruments, and percussion too, it's great for working and writing, it's inexpensive, and it's excellent value for money. Very well developed for bassists, with various types of writing for all types of playing, from slap to thumb, etc. Various tablature writing modes are available, and the sheet music fits in perfectly, it's made for playing. Drums are very easy to write. The pff editions are very easy, and so on... It's not made for voice or orchestra, but that's not what you want from it, and it's not for nothing that it's called Guitar Pro.Nevertheless, it's important to realise that today's stand-alone score editors, except for purists, are on the decline if they are not directly associated with a DAW worthy of the name. Cubase and Logic Pro are perfect examples of this, with their native score editors which, whatever the case, do exist and now just need to evolve.

Via my Patch, I now export my GP work files in .mid, import them into Live and I can work, but the playback cursor on the GP score no longer moves! And to select a batch of bars to work on in a song, it's much less simple in Live than in GP... could this be solved?

With these 2 points alone, plus the tempo patch, this is a GP that's almost a plugin!

I'll let you tell me what you think, and I'll give this little adventure a try...

I  have a Full Max Cycling74 License installed for years..Now after installing LiveSuite12,  I notice 2 x  Max9 icons showing in the Dock (one for the cycling74 Full License 

). Sometimes they're active at the same time.  I dont think that is supposed to work like that ?.

Should I remove the Max-app I already had installed before I Installed Live Suite?

and just use the Suite-Bundled Max9 app. for both  Standalone-,  and M4L purposes. ?

I have been discovering M4L for a few days and my poor English absolutely does not help me advance in my search.

Until then, for a few years I worked my bass on Guitar Pro and Ableton which had the role of an instrument. Guitar Pro has a very useful asset for work, which is not found elsewhere, it is the management of the % tempo, per range of +/-5%.

To summarize: when reading the score, we select the tempo and the "-" & "+" keys on the keyboard allow you to increase or decrease the tempo in a range of 5%. There is also a drop-down menu with a certain number of % to choose from and there is also the solution to fill in the tempo we want this time in bpm.

The disadvantage is that all this is not controllable in MiDi...

The idea would therefore be to export the pieces, exercises etc... from GP to Ableton in MiDi and use M4L to build a work tool that would respond to this:

At this stage, I am not getting the desired result, and for a total novice at the start of this project, it is not necessary to have already spent a few hours there! )

Hello, I've been trying to use Max MIDI effect to send control data to vst plugin and haven't been able to successfully even make one knob to respond. If I can learn the basics, I can populate the patch with multiple parameters. For time being, even one parameter is enough (like M4L knob to move a knob in the VST plugin (in this case let's say Oscillator 1 shape selector CC 31 on Aura Blofeld Editor VST plugin). The reason I like to set it up this way is to have M4L as intermediate stage to have flexibility for naming the parameters. Right now on my Novation SL mkiii MIDI controller, the parameter names are so long (fed from the VST plugin) that I can't discern any useful info on the knob displays (limited to 10 digits) and it is confusing. By default, Live doesn't allow renaming the configured plugin parameter names, and I was seeking a solution and this seem to be a suggested potential. I need to configure more than 64 parameters so the Novation Components software or using Live plugin Macro is not sufficient. I also tried it as a Max Audio Effect (tried to see if DAW style automation of parameters can be streamlined this way) and still wasn't successful. Thanks for your help.

I wanted to create a design close to the roar multi Band. Do you know an elegant way to have 3 independent menus at the same place with ability to switch between them.

For the moment I'm considering Bpatcher but I didn't use it a lot and I don't know if it works well for M4L. Hiding every parameter or moving the view doesn't seem to be a good way to do this.

I also want to stop 2 bands from playing when being in single band mode so It's not using too much ressources for nothing.

Do you have any references of M4L multi band devices ?

So I'm trying to build a "MD Assistant" plugin. Excuse me if this already exists but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

So the plan is to have a device that lists all clips in the arrangement view for the device's track. I want to enable the user to specify the number of times the clip should be looped before continuing (like vamps). I want the clip (or track) to be muted for all passes except the last one. This way, I can put some callouts and countdowns on the track that will be sent to the musicians in-ears only. There should also be an option to end the loop prematurely if the MD wishes to do so. In that case, the loop should be disabled and the clip should play as normal.

I had a go on this with some help with copilot (total noob here, but have some JS programming experience), but it doesn't work as expected. A lot of transport.set instructions seem to get lost or are blocked with a warning that I need to defer my response (which I thought I was doing)

Any help in debugging this is helpful. It is still lacking a lot of the functionality. What I have here is populating the UI and if you set the counter to a non-zero value, the clip should loop exactly that many times before continuing.
