I have a hard time wrapping my mind around how pattrstorage works in conjunction with the presets object.  What I try to do:

Each time I load a new device, the preset slots should be empty. Now I change values and add presets to the device one by one. 

When I save the device with an Ableton set, I want those snapshots to be saved with it. But only in this instance of the device. So snapshots that save with the Ableton file. But not global presets.

Is this possible or is there a better way of doing this?

I have a problem. In an Ableton Live set I am working on I did at some point make a max for live patch with ; max maxwindow in it to open the console window to check a few things while i was working.

This worked great, but I am done with the console window now, but even if I close it everytime something is printet to the max window (like a number being out of range, or udpreceive is binding to port etc.) the window pops up again! In the middle of the screen. Close it, same thing happens every message. I am not triggering any ;max maxwindow messages, and if i open the patches in another liveset I don't have the problem.

Is there a way to deactivate the max window again in this liveset?

I have been losing my mind. I need to use the delay object and I feel like I'm doing it all correctly but when I put the delay in, nothing happens. Nothing can get through.

Delay Simply Doesn't Work

I have this pretty straightforward sequencer that advances with each incoming midi note. So far so good - but I'd like to skip certain steps, without breaking the note on / off relationship. When I want to skip step 5 for example, the note pairs should be going to 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7.  

I also still want to be able to change the length of the loop itself.

I've made this kind of work with using zl.filter, zl.len, zl.nth and a counter, but off course this didn't keep my note offs in the correct destination.

Maybe route is not the right tool for this? Is there some kind of "round-robin" distributor where I can skip certain steps? A switch? Or can coll be used somehow?

I'm a gear head and quite new to M4L. I have been building a hardware latency calculator to help measure my synths latency. This would primarily be used for determining the 'Hardware Latency' time to be applied to an 'External Instrument' device. 

I've tried two main methods of doing this

1. Measuring the time it takes from [Note Out] until I hear the audio back in my [plugin~] - with this method it compensates for the Sample Rate, Buffer Size and Project Latency. The issues arose with the project latency which (correct me if Im wrong) is not an available readable value from ableton, so I was trying my best to calculate it on its own (Scanning all the plugins in a project, adding up all the latency etc). This took awhile as there were always new places a plugin could be (i.e. Groups within Groups or Drum Rack Return Tracks). Yet after all this work, though accurate 90% of the time, in some big projects, it was still miscalculating somewhere along the way.

2.  I'd try to bypass all this compensation by sending a click & and [noteout] at the same time. I'd route the click internally (yet still have project latency) and then I'd just measure the difference in time for the click audio to come back in and the audio from the synth. This method seemed to introduce more latency to the click. 

I can go into more detail but I'm curious if anyone has tried to tackle anything similar to this and has any suggestions on how to approach it? Am I on the right track or am I missing something that would make this whole process easier?

I'd like to be able to get a score into Max/Max for Live and have the computer play it replacing scored pitches with random pitches. I've been exploring Bach but I'm struggling to see how this could be acheived. Would this even be possible and if so, is there an existing tool that would do the job or would I need to build it from scratch?

Quarter-note resolution is sufficient for now.

, even for a few milliseconds. Overlapping armed tracks cause audible artefacts (e.g. guitar input bleeding, clicks, or loaders sounding), which is unacceptable on stage.

I’ve already tried several common approaches:

All of these occasionally fail under load or ignore messages, or briefly allow two tracks to be armed at once.

I’ve already built parts of a prototype in Max for Live:

 that stays stable in performance has proven harder than expected, and I’d prefer to hand this off to someone experienced rather than keep fighting edge cases.
