So, I wanted to play simpler slices with a drum rack while both on another channel, and my idea was to map Ableton's envelope midi to a note synced bang. It took a while, but it worked!

Now I only have one problem, it works perfect with triggered slices, but I also wanna play gated slices, only the button is (logically) not gated. Is there any way to make the button gated so when I hold the button the slice plays until I release it? 

I added a screenshot of my build, hopefully somebody can help me figure this out!I tried my best finding the info, but I guess I dont really know the right keywords so search for, sorry! :)

I'm trying to build a Max for Live MIDI effect that acts as a note filter based on user selection in an 8x8 live.grid (Novation Launchpad Pro). I'm an absolute beginner in Max, so I don't know much.

The grid should be a fixed range of 64 MIDI notes, starting from C1 like a Novation Launchpad layout (User mode, image attached).

If pitch of an incoming MIDI signal corresponds to a cell that is "ON" in the live.grid, the note should pass through.

If pitch of an incoming MIDI signal corresponds to a cell that is "OFF" in the live.grid the note should be blocked (i.e., not sent to the 

 to get pitch, velocity and channel. Then pass a pitch to the 

 with some value (e.q. 60 (C3)) and then pass right outlet of 

 pitch inlet. It blocks only one manually specified note, but I want to set notes via live.grid.

I know that I can make a rack and specify its note range, but if the same following chain should be triggered by different non-adjacent notes it requires me to copy it and specify another note range over and over again.

First time posting and been exploring Max For Live for a few weeks now.

There's something I don't understand and haven't found an answer in any documentation. Maybe I just missed it or maybe it's just due to a behavior of Live itself.

I am trying to remote, let's say for example a fader in Live using another Fader.

So to do it I have made the following path:

It basically monitors and remotes both Faders. Independently, everything works well. If I move the Fader 1, it monitors perfectly. If I move the Fader 2, it monitors perfectly as well. I have also added dials in the path to make sure the remote component works well for both faders, and it does. But when I link the two, when moving Fader 1 it doesn't apply to Fader 2.

My only clue is that I have either missed something, or that there is somekind of touch behavior in Live that prevent this from working.

Just in case I wasn't super clear on what my issue is, I'm linking a quick video of the issue.

I get a lot of Ableton projects in arrangement view that I need to convert to session view files. In these projects the locators are already set and named.

What I'm trying to do in max is to automatically rename the clips (in all or in a single track: doesn't matter much!) to the locator names.

I already found out a way to print the locator names, and also know how to rename clips in session view. But can't seem to combine this to a working device.

Clips in Arrangement aren't available to the LOM, you'll not be able to achieve this currently...

Have been looking to do this same thing as the OP! Any luck or anyone that has any ideas?

Would love to automatically separate the clip at each Locator and rename each section to that Locator's name.

I read the tutorial:Midi Tutorial 1: Basic MIDI. The tutorial specifies in the paragraph "The midiin and midiout objects":A simple way select a MIDI device is to double-click on the MIDI object you want to assign. Double-clicking on the midiin object produces a menu of available MIDI inputs, while double-clicking on the midiout object will display a menu of MIDI outputs.
The problem is this: when I click on the midiout object for example, a window appears saying: "none".
If I look in the Options menu (MIDI setup...), there is nothing to indicate at the level of "Inputs" and "Outputs".
My question is: how do we configure MIDI setup?

The functionality that you are looking for is only available in the full (standalone) version of Max. It is not available in Max4Live. You cannot assign the MIDI objects in M4L (such as [midiin], [midiout], etc) to any external MIDI device. They can only be connected directly to the track in Ableton Live in which you define them. You can't even receive/send MIDI data from/to another track in Ableton Live easily unless you do some clever jiggery-pokery.

THANKS. Now I understand better why nothing worked. 
Finally, until I have purchased the full version of Max, there is no point in me reading the tutorials dedicated to MIDI in Max for Live...?.

It would create an automation with a single breakpoint on each parameter ( like aux sends, volume, pan, plugins, clip gain...). 

A great feature would be "except ( - Track On/off - clip - mixer - plugin...)" and delete .

I can't find a way with Live Object Model (except call_clear_automation) and i'm still a beginner with Max.

I would be grateful for anyone’s help or suggestions on how to understand this.

I want to call functions of the looper device (Record, overdub and play). I know this is possible as I tested it out using the LOM.navigator device.

 I can’t find any tutorials or info online at all about how to address parameters on devices apart from the mixer device and I’m trying  to get advice about where to look or the correct commands to use. 

I have attached a couple of screen grabs of my attempt to do this - To see if I ma on the right lines- to no joy.
